RAINBOW DROOPING FETTERBUSH
Leucothoe fontanesiana 'Rainbow'
Exceptional foliage for mixed or shrub beds and borders. A standout in
foundation planting offering relief where there is too much deep green.
Add to planting beneath very high shade tree canopies or in groves.
Good for highlighting a distant focal point.
Gracefully arching, striking red stems with colorful, mottled leaves.
Showy, pendulous clusters of white flowers provide wonderful contrast
in spring. Effective as hedge, or clip to make a nice ground cover.
Good cut flowers. Evergreen. Partial sun. Slow grower 3 to 5 feet tall
and wide, can be clipped to 18 inches tall. Cutting grown and tissue

GOLDEN EUONYMUS
Euonymus japonicus 'Aureo-marginatus'
A single shrub makes a big, bold statement and is better in larger
gardens. It is a very reliable accent in larger evergreen landscapes
with far-off planting areas. An ideal hedge, it can be sheared or left
to grow into a natural form that is dense enough to make a good visual
and sound barrier. As tough as they come.
An excellent choice for colorful hedges,
this evergreen shrub displays its boldly variegated foliage on a dense
upright habit. Handsome foliage adapts well to shearing. Full sun.
Moderate growth to 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide. Cutting grown.

Mellow Yellow
Spiraea thunbergii 'Ogon'
Of the spireas, this species is the earliest to bloom, usually flowering in
the first half of March with forsythia. Spireas belong to the rose family and
have the small, white, five-petaled blossoms characteristic of many members
of that family. The blooms are about a quarter-inch across but borne in considerable
profusion.
Ogon spirea is a versatile shrub in the landscape. It can be mixed with evergreens
where its fine texture and beautiful chartreuse foliage brightens the drab greenery.
But it's small enough to incorporate in the back of a perennial border
where it can function as a harmonious part of the planting. I use it as a stand-alone
specimen beside the drive. The foliage color is very subtle and blends with
almost any color combination. Deciduous shrub with thin, twiggy branches that grows
5- to 6-foot tall into a gracefully mounded, multi-stemmed. The slender, willow-like leaves
are to 2 inches long.
