Graceful, long weeping boughs are intensely beautiful swaying like willows in the breeze. Large magenta buds cover the tree more densely than other varieties. Each opens to perfect double pink flower in late spring for large color mass overall. Slightly later flowering is useful in climates with late spring freezes. New bronze-green leaves appear after blooms. Plant as a high profile focal point at short or long range. Use pairs to call attention to entries and gateways. Essential material for Japanese style gardens but is also at home in a semiformal cottage or country garden setting. Particularly striking when set against dark evergreen background. Deciduous tree. Full sun, but protect from hot afternoons in dry western climates. Slow growing to 15 to 20 feet tall and as wide.

Upright, vase-shaped branching habit. Moderate grower to 20 to 25 ft. tall, 15 to 20 ft. and more wide. Deciduous.

Festive is a dense, medium-sized evergreen shurb. The spiny, stiff foliage is dark green and shiny. 'Festive' can easily be maintained as a tightly-sheared pyramid for a small garden accent. Rich, deep green foliage year round with a tight growth habit. Moderate grower to 12 ft. tall and 8 ft. wide.
