Greetings!
It has been a quiet summer along Lake Michigan. Few, if any, can remember when the lake was as warm, for as long, as this year.
There is not a lot to report - just a few items to note.

PTD needs your financial support. We are filing a friend of the court brief with the Michigan Supreme Court - described in this newsletter. We are approaching the time for a renewal of the sand dune mining permit at the Nadeau Site. This may well  require significant expenses on our part.

Ross Preserve Walk - Canceled

Due to scheduling problems, the walk has been canceled with regret. It will be rescheduled for the Spring 2011.
The 2010 Outsiders Show

The 16th annual Outsiders Outside Art Fair is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend, September 3-5, 2010. It will be held at (and around) the Judith Racht Gallery, 13707 Prairie Road (just off the Red Arrow Highway), Harbert, MI 49115.

As with last year, there will be a Preview Party on Friday evening (6-9 pm EST) with a cash bar benefiting Preserve the Dunes, music from Patent Medicine, and full weekend passes reasonably priced at $20. A number of vendors will have food available for purchase, if you choose to make a night of it!

The show will be open Saturday and Sunday, 10-5 EST, for your viewing pleasure with tickets $10/adults, 12 and under half price.

This show includes a wonderful variety of untrained, visionary and folk artists.

Dogs on the Beaches

It had been reported in a published report that Hagar Township welcomed dogs at its beaches. Then the beaches were included in a list of dog friendly beaches on the West Michigan Tourist Association website (and still are).

After the report spread through the internet, the township beaches were at times overrun with dogs. At its last meeting, the township board formally banned dogs.
