Bud Botkin - 1926-2008

Bud Botkin, a PTD board member, died April 15. We will all miss his enthusiasm, joy of life, commitment and caring, determination and friendship.

His obituary was published in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times.
 
His family is planning a 'memorial service' for September 13 - place & time to be announced.

Funds will help continue efforts to raise awareness about dune ecosystems, stop sand dune mining in the Critical Dunes, offer children's educational programs on dune ecosystems through Sarett Nature Center, and work with local governments to preserve dune ecosystems.

Van Buren County Board Acts to Protect Park Land

The Van Buren County Board of Commissioners approved development of  conservation easement terms with the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy (SWMLC). The Friends of North Point has 90 days to raise $10,000 for a conservation easement monitoring fund to ensure the property remains protected forever.  The fund will be held by the SWMLC and will provide funds for SWMLC to monitor and enforce the easement terms in perpertuity

Friends of North Point is hoping to get 100 people to donate $100 each. For a relatively small amount a significant lake front parcel can be preserved forever. Please consider a conribution and spread the word. 

Checks can be made out to SWMLC with NORTH POINT in the memo and sent to SWMLC, 6851 S. Sprinkle Road, Portage, MI  49002-9708.
