Greetings!

With the 4th of July fast approaching, I see the firework stands going up all around our community.  I can remember as a child being so excited about getting to buy fireworks and shoot them in our neighborhood with all of my friends.

Our home was in the middle of all the action, and for a few hours that was the best place on planet earth to be... until the next morning came around.  You see, that's when my parents would wake us up and send my brother, my sister, and me out into our area of the neighborhood to clean up the mess... and not just our mess, but also Joe's mess, Graham's mess, Heather's mess, David's mess, Linda's mess... well, I think you get the picture.

Now, I'm sure I never had anything good thing to say about cleaning up everyone's mess back when I was the one out there with the broom and garbage can, but today, looking back I do believe my parents and those occasions taught me something.

Times like that taught me about going the extra mile.  It's easy to do just enough to barely get by, and so many people in our world do just that... enough to take care of themselves and nothing more.  But as Christians, we are called to be different, give different, live different, and serve different from the world.

In Matthew 5:41, Jesus said "If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles."  You see, Christian love is wonderfully demonstrated when it shows up in unexpected ways.

I have heard it said that, when you "do your best" for someone, you go the first mile. When God does "His best through you" you experience the second mile.  Now, I'm not suggesting that everyone has to wake up on July 5th and rush out to clean their neighborhood.  But I do want to encourage you to look around you each day and be aware.  Seize the opportunities God gives you to demonstrate the amazing, unexpected love of Jesus in out of the ordinary ways.  While others see you on the first mile, they see Christ on the second.

Serving with you,

Pastor Dale

The Kove Pre-School Ministry Update:

Nursery: Each Sunday we enjoy providing our littlest ones with a loving and caring environment while parents participate in worship.

Toddlers:   In the toddler area, we get to have a lot of fun as we create a friendly, Christian environment where our kids enjoy singing, snacks, games, and Bible activities.

Pre-K (3-5 yrs): This month we are starting a series in the Kove called City Streets Jr. Welcome to City Streets Jr, The Musical! Your children will join Sydney, the new kid in town, as he gets to know the neighborhood. As Sydney meets his new neighbors, they will help him learn about who God is and how God wants him to live. Each week your children will enjoy fun songs and an animated Bible story as Sydney makes a decision about whether or not to do the right thing.

Also, we are so excited for VBS this year! We will be learning about praising God for His greatness, His power and His Love through Bible stories, songs, activities and snacks! Come and join us!

We have so much fun on Sunday mornings learning about Jesus through the Bible. We learn how to obey, share with others, helping others and doing what is right. We learn valuable lessons from Bible stories, activities, songs and crafts. Every week we giggle over the puppets as they mess up and have to learn the lesson the hard way!

We love your children and love seeing them grow for Jesus!

On Wednesday evenings join us in The Wave for pizza
