Greetings!
Fall is upon us, and I'm excited about what God has in store for us as we move into October.  First of all, I have been blessed by the opportunity to study through Philippians with you.  I trust that you have discovered it to be a very practical book that is literally packed with help from God for our daily living.  I would encourage you to, once again, read through this brief letter from Paul to the church in Philippi.  As you do, be sure to select a verse or two that you commit to memory.  If you do this, I believe you will be amazed at how God blesses your effort and uses His Word to guide you through whatever the day may bring.

On October 17, we will begin a new sermon series titled Fearless.  I believe all of God's Word is always practical for our teaching time, and I am convinced that the timeliness of this study is without a doubt by God's design.  In the days ahead you will have opportunities to participate in one of our Life Groups.  I want to encourage everyone to join in and discover the benefits of doing life together and growing in your understanding of God's Word.

On that same day, immediately following our worship service, make plans to join us for our Family Fun Fest.  We will be serving BBQ and have fun activities for the children.  This will be a great opportunity for you to invite your friends and family to check out your church and have a fun time doing it.

May the Lord bless you,

Pastor Dale

Life Groups
Fellowship of Montgomery will be kicking off our Fall Life Groups on October 17.  We will be going through a church-wide Bible study titled, Fearless.  We want to encourage everyone to check out a Life Group near you, so for more details please email us at  info@fellowshipofmontgomery.net.  There will also be a booth in the foyer of the church on October 3, 10, and 17, where you can receive more information, find a Life Group location, and register.

Here is what author and pastor Max Lucado has to say about Fearless:

Each sunrise seems to bring fresh reasons for fear.  They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming. The plague of our day, terrorism, begins with the word terror. Fear, it seems, has taken up a hundred-year lease on the building next door and set up shop. Oversized and rude, fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors. Wouldn't it be great to walk out?

Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, and doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, when you could trust more and fear less. Can you imagine your life without fear?

Be sure to be in your place for Fearless!

Wednesday Nights:
On Wednesday nights our student ministry starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs until approximately 8:00 p.m.  All 7th-12th grade students are invited to join us for Bible study, pizza, worship, and games.  Also be sure to Invite your friends to come and check us out on Wednesday nights as well.

This semester  we are studying Scary, Gross, and Weird Stories from the Bible.  We will be looking at bizarre stories in the Bible that lurk Biblical truth to help us in our spiritual lives.  Some of the craziest stories in the Bible can be the most revealing.  Some of the stories we will be studying are as follows: Lot's wife turns to salt, Balaam's donkey speaks, God  sends a message on the wall, and Jesus re-attaches a severed ear.  Come on Wednesdays to hear about the bizarre and learn to apply God's awesome truth to your daily life.

Small Groups:
We just kicked off our small groups on September 27th.  The girls are at Maridee Roberson's home in Walden, and the guys are at Chad Cooper's home in Walden.  The girls are studying Mean Girls: Facing Your Beauty Turned Beast, and the guys are using Studies on the Go: Colossians.  If you would like to participate, please email Brian Roberson at brian@fellowshipofmontgomery.net

5th Quarters:
Mark your calendars for October 8 and October 29.  Those are the dates for 5th Quarter after the Friday night Varstiy Football Game.  October 8 we have a Christian ventriloquist/comedian coming to entertain us, and on October 29 we will have a movie under the stars, a bonfire and smores, and hay ride.  5th Quarters will be held from 10:00p-midnight.  Everyone is invited for these nights of fun, so be sure to invite your friends, families, and neighbors.

Food Pantry Mission Project:
On October 23, we are teaming up with our Pre-Teen ministry for a mission project to the Montgomery County Food Pantry.  We will be leaving the church at 8:15a, and we will be done by 12:30p.  At the food pantry, we will be helping sort, clean, and box the various food items.  This is a continuing support for our local mission project at the Montgomery County Food Pantry.  Parents and students are encouraged to help out at this event.

The Ride Pre-Teen Ministry

The Ride
The Ride Update:

The Ride Preteens (4th - 6th grade) - Sunday Mornings.  This month in the Ride, we will be starting a new series "Pier Pressure."  Pier Pressure (Peer Pressure) is a five week series aimed at helping students not just cope with but overcome the difficulty of negative peer pressure in their lives. The series captures the importance of having a deep foundation in Christ as the pressure of life's waves crash against us. This series uses 1 Corinthians 15:33 as a foundation to build upon.

On Wednesday evenings, starting at 6:30, Andy Van and Marissa Scholl would enjoy having you for fun, food, games, and a continual study into God's Word and its application in your everyday life.  We would also like to remind you to bring can foods for our service project where we are assisting the Montgomery County Food Bank.

If you have any questions regarding the children's ministry programs, or if you are interested in volunteering, please contact Rockey Butler at rockey@fellowshipofmontgomery.net.  We would love to have you be a part of this vibrant and growing ministry.

Worship Ministry

Hey there! Well the worship arts ministry has officially made it onto the church newsletter, and it's been an awesome 6 months since my wife and I joined Fellowship of Montgomery.

On Oct. 24, the worship arts ministry will be holding an introductory/tutorial session.  This is for those of you who may be interested in serving in various ways which might include AV recording, computer operations, and running the sound system during our worship services. The introductory/tutorial session will be held directly after church that day. Lunch will be provided. For more information contact me, John Garrett, via email at johnathanpgarrett@gmail.com

Also, I want to mention that my band and I will be involved in a charity concert for the American Cancer Society, in Magnolia on Nov. 21. We will be playing music in the afternoon, so if you would like to stop by and show your support for a great cause you are most welcome.  If you would like more information on this event or how you can get involved contact Jessica Sottilare of Creative Christians Inc. in Magnolia at 281-259-1231.
