Greetings!
In August, we are beginning a new sermon series with a study through the book of Philippians.  A dominant theme found in this letter to the church in Philippi is that of joy in living for Jesus Christ.  Encouragement to be joyful may not sound all that unusual for most believers, but we have to understand that the Apostle Paul was writing this letter while wearing chains  in prison.  As we look around our community and across our nation it is easy to see that people everywhere desperately want to be happy; however, daily downs and ups, bruises and bumps threaten to frustrate even the most mature believers.  My prayer is that throughout this study we will hold fast to the truth that Jesus Christ still reigns, and because we know Him, we can rejoice at all times.

August 15, will be our next baptismal service.  The Bible teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Jesus Christ, and baptism allows Christ-followers to communicate to the world about this new commitment to Christ.  If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sins, and you have received Him as your Savior and risen Lord, then you, too, should be baptized.  If you would like to talk to someone about baptism or what it means to become a Christ-follower, please contact me or one of the other staff members.  We would consider it a tremendous blessing to be able to talk with you and seek answers to your questions.

I hope to see you Sunday at 10:45 a.m., and be sure to invite someone to join you for worship.  Both of you will be eternally grateful that you did.

May the Lord bless you,

Pastor Dale
