I have to confess that it's hard for me to believe July is already upon us. It seems summer just began but so much has already taken place... that includes both blessings and struggles.
Four weeks ago, and without warning, the church lost access to our domain name. This meant that our website,
www.fellowshipofmontgomery.net, was unaccessible to our church family and to anyone in our community that wanted to discover more about the church. Now this may not sound like a major issue to some people, but the reality is that our website and personal invitations are the top two reasons given for people visiting our church. I'm happy to say that today everything is back online for us. As exciting as that is, let me encourage you to continue extending a personal invitation to your friends and those people God places along your path in life.
Three weeks ago we experienced another bump in the road. It seems that someone felt they needed our AC units more than we did and decided to take them under the cover of darkness one evening. As frustrating as this situation seems, I have to let you know that I thank God for the godly people of our church that have spent hours on the phone and at the church working on a solution. I'm happy to say that everything has now been replaced, and there will be no problems in cooling the building down for worship this Sunday.
Just about two weeks ago, I had the tremendous blessing of joining our Student Ministry for youth camp in Alabama. It was a wonderful time of worship, learning God's Word, and commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I was so proud of the young men and women that participated and especially blessed by those who unashamedly responded to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
As we look at the next few weeks of our summer, I want you to know how excited I am about the opportunities for God's presence to be made known in and through His church. Vacation Bible School and Preteen Camp are just two of the wonderful programs where truth is discovered and eternal destinations are forever changed. Please pray for a mighty work of God, and while you're praying, ask Him how you can help.
I am convinced that Satan throws difficulties at the church to try and take our focus off of the Lord and off of His purpose for us. I am also convinced that God allows these same struggles in our lives in order to refocus our attention on Him, drive us to our knees in prayer, and increase our faith in Him as our hope and our provider.
We are beginning a new sermon series during the month of July titled "Fireworks." Each Sunday we will be looking at encounters with God and fire found in the pages of the Bible. I hope to see you in your place this Sunday at 10:45a.m., and be sure to invite someone to join you for worship. They'll be eternally grateful.
Happy 4th of July and may God bless America,
Pastor Dale
