Here we are in December, and as I look back over the past year I think about how fast 2009 seems to have flown. God has done amazing things with Fellowship of Montgomery. I am grateful to Him and thankful for you!
I remember my first Sunday here as pastor and preaching about new beginnings... both for this church and for my family. Now, here we are in December, but this month which ends our calendar actually reminds me about other new beginnings.
Over 2,000 years ago, the Son of God came to this earth, and He did so in order for everyone to have the opportunity to experience a new beginning. This new beginning is like no other you've ever been offered. Jesus came to offer us forgiveness, peace, and a new life. That is Good News! I hope you have experienced this new beginning with Jesus as your Savior and Lord, but if you have questions, I would love to help.
I want to invite everyone to join us for our Christmas Eve Service here at Fellowship of Montgomery. We will meet at 4:30 p.m. on December 24. If you are in town I hope you will join us. Please be sure to invite your friends and family.
As we approach the end of the semester for our students, please be aware of our temporary schedule change for Wednesday evenings. We will have no children or student activities on Wednesday, December 23, and December 30. They will resume on January 6.
Please remember that Sunday, December 13, we will have a called business meeting immediately following our worship service. This is for the purpose of distributing and approving our 2010 budget. We will also discuss the needs and opportunity we have to build much needed space for our expanding children and student ministries.
I hope you have had time to read and pray about the information we distributed regarding the expansion of our children's ministries and the needed space. God has used Fellowship of Montgomery to reach families and children in our community, and I am convinced that God still has greater things He wants to do through us. If you need an additional packet, please pick one up this Sunday. You can also check our website for more
information as well.
Before I conclude, I want to give you something a friend shared with me recently:
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
Had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
Feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us.
Lord willing, I look forward to seeing you Sunday as we worship our Savior and turn our attention to God's Word.
