Greetings!
In the media, August is often referred to as to the hot "dog days" of summer when little gets accomplished. Whoever coined that phrase apparently was not familiar with Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West (HFHSTW). During the month of August, HFHSTW dedicated and sold two homes, continued construction on five homes, held the first Heroes for Habitat 5K and Fun Run, began a strategic planning process, purchased 10 lots in the Groves at Mile Branch, and hosted a reception for our tithe partner Habitat for Humanity Uganda. In other words it was typical busy month at HFHSTW.
Why do volunteers, board members, and staff work so hard each month? The answer is obvious and it has to do with our commitment to the mission of HFHSTW. The mission to serve Family Partners is what drives us every day. Despite the day to day stresses we face, we all know it is worth it when we dedicate a Habitat home. At a dedication, listen and look around during the event, you will see the large smiles and tears of joy on the faces on our Partner Families, you will feel the excitement of a child giving a tour of his/her new room, and you will hear of the uplifting journey a family has taken to become a homeowner. You cannot walk away from a dedication without being energized to continue this challenging but meaningful work.
As August winds down, we are preparing for another typical busy month. September means CEO Build, Women Build wall raising, welcoming our new AmeriCorps service volunteers, building homes, serving our Partner Families, operating the ReStore, and board and board committee meetings.
So if you are looking for an opportunity to assist families and make our community a better place, give us a call. We invite you to join with us as we make a difference in the lives of families and the communities they live in.
Sincerely,

Jeffery St. Romain President/CEO Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West |
