Through Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany's continued partnership with ENERGY STAR, Habitat is doing its part to help protect the environment while offering consumers new homes that are more comfortable and save money on utility bills.

 MAY/2011

Greetings!

200th Home
See more about the dedication of our 200th Home
Last week HFHSTW closed on its 200th home. Staff, Board members, volunteers, and homeowners celebrated the dedication on a beautiful spring day. As Jonathan Reckford, CEO Habitat for Humanity International stated in a recent letter to the affiliate, "What a wonderful milestone and a testament to the hard work and dedication of so many people. I am certain, however, that you are already looking forward to the next 200 families who need our help."

Jonathan is correct, after celebrating the 200th home, we are looking forward. HFHSTW has scheduled three more home closings and dedications in coming weeks, recently received a donation of three lots, will soon be closing on 10 lots in the Groves at Mile Branch Creek, and has 15 families currently working on their sweat equity. We know that as in the past, our future efforts will involve a partnership between the families we serve, volunteers, and donors.

Building on Faith: Desmond Family
Learn more about Building on Faith

These partnerships are already under way. In the next few months, several congregations will be involved in our Building on Faith home, a Methodist Youth Group from Texas will be in the area volunteering, the Women Build committee will be finalizing plans for this fall's Women Build project, local CEO's will come out and join us for a CEO Build Day and local judges, attorneys, and first responders will be getting involved in the Bench Bar and Badge Build.

However, to meet the demands for quality affordable housing, we need additional support from synagogues and churches, businesses, civic organizations, individuals and families. So give us a call or check out our website and sign up to volunteer and make a donation to assist us as we continue to provide quality affordable housing to working families in our community. We hope you will join with us to build the next 200 homes.

Thanks for your support,

Jeff St. Romain,
President/CEO

A Special Mother's Day Gift
NWBW Mother's Day BuildMother's Day Build Photos

Thanks to the efforts of more than 250 affiliates across the country, approximately 10,000 female volunteers helped build or repair homes during the fourth annual National Women Build Week.
From April 30 to May 8, women of all ages, backgrounds and experiences dedicated at least one day to raising hammers for Habitat. They laughed together, cried together and bonded over this unique opportunity to make a difference in their communities.

Volunteers helped build the foundation of a new home for Mother's Day Build with Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West as part of National Women Build Week sponsored by HFHI and Lowe's. See photos ...
