TAX ASSESSMENTS

Habitat Family Services Advocating for Partner Families Post-Purchase

New Homeowners Nick & Hasina JaveryWhen new tax assessments came out this year, Habitat's research showed an unrealisticly dramatic increase for every home for which we hold the mortgage. Such increases could mean catastrophic increases in monthly house notes for families struggling to make their current payments.  As a result, long-time volunteer and former board member Marilyn Wenzel and Director of Family Services Terri Gage met with the assessor's office, and as a result, most assessments came down, if not to desired levels, at least to more reasonable levels. "Working with Habitat for Humanity (STW) will always be one of my most memorable experiences. The fact that I was actually building a place for a family to live and start a new life is incredible."  --Carolyn Doane

"Our Habitat (STW) build was truly a rewarding experience.  After I graduate from college, I would like to go abroad and build internationally for Habitat for three years!  It is truly personally rewarding and fulfilling to be involved with Habitat for Humanity." --Fei Xu
OLD CLUNKER CAR = 2008 TAX DEDUCTION
Nice Car. CarsForHomes.org"Cars for Homes" makes your end-of-year tax deduction easy.
"I donated my 10-year-old BMW, got a tax deduction for much more than I could have sold the car for, and knew that my donation would help HFHSTW Go Another 100 Yards. It was so easy--I just went online to www.carsforhomes.org and Habitat did the rest. By denoting my zip code, the proceeds from the sale of the vehicle were returned to HFHSTW!" -- Maureen Clary

Your car donation can help a family build a house, and the hope of a better life!
THANK YOU for your commitment in building a better Habitat for Humanity. You can show your support through an online donation or volunteering with us. Help us go another 100 yards, building 100 houses for deserving families right here in west St. Tammany!

With gratitude,
