Volunteer Issue: 01 APRIL 11, 2008
Greetings!

Volunteers for Habitat St. Tammany West have come from near and far since Hurricane Katrina changed the face of the Gulf Coast in 2005. You have been indispensible in our effort to eliminate substandard housing in west St. Tammany Parish by 2025. In this newsletter, you'll find news about upcoming projects.
Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project
JRCWP Habitat Home Buyer Alicia MillerThe internationally recognized Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Project will be held along the Gulf Coast, May 11-16 from Houston, TX to Mobile, AL. Staff and volunteers are excited as HFHSTW is one of only four participating affiliates chosen to be visited by the Carters as part of the project.
More than 300 construction volunteers from around the world will partner with HFHSTW to build ten houses in West Abita Nursery in Covington as part of the five-day build. We need local volunteers helping throughout the week. Read details about this amazing opportunity are below.

Women Build Volunteer: Kim Pierce
Kim Pierce and friends at Women Build

Kim Pierce (photo left) brought nine friends with her to work with Habitat's Women Build in March. "It was so much fun," she said, "and the work was really fulfilling." In fact, she said she would forward this email to her friends so they can all sign up to work together again. We hope you do the same!
