Prepare your hair for spring! As we look out the window, we see that the March has given way to spring flowers. There are signs everywhere that spring is awakening. The next time you book an appointment, ask your Salon Khouri specialist to prepare your hair for the increased outdoor activities and exposure to wind, sun and soon water. Take advantage of our earth-friendly product lines, Kevin Murphy and Eufora, especially during April (you'll see why if you keep reading ;-). Keep your hair sunkissed and youthfully springy!
We're spring cleaning at Salon Khouri and need your help. Make sure we have your correct email address as we do our appointment reminders through email. You can stop by the front desk and leave your email address with our manager, Nonya, or you can update from our Contact page. Also, when you stop by the front desk, make sure we have your birthday month on your profile so we can send you a birthday gift of $10 off the service of your choice starting in January 2010.
When scheduling your next appointment, remember that we are open EVERY OTHER MONDAY with Megan and Kristin offering their talents with a complimentary eyebrow or lip waxing (Mondays only through June). You can pre-book your appointments for Mondays -- or any day -- as far ahead as you prefer.
Oh, and speaking of spring, we have two new exciting menus: a specialty treatments menu, and a new bridal menu of services, including travel to accommodate your wedding party's needs. Make sure any brides you know hear what Salon Khouri offers for their special day.

Salon Khouri Helps Clean Oil Spills
Salon Khouri stylists and staff are concerned about our environment and continually seek ways to become a greener business. Stylist, Rebecca Garcia, found a perfect way for every customer to 'contribute' to our efforts by collecting hair clippings. The hair is boxed and shipped off regularly to an organization that creates hair mats to help in the collection of oil spills in our nation's waterways. Hair, including animal hair, has a natural tendency to attract and retain oils so it is the perfect medium for this greener earth task.
Since 2000, Matter of Trust, a 501(c) 3 program has collaborated with thousands of salons throughout the US and abroad to collect hair clippings to soak up oil spills. Last year over 2,600 oil spills occurred in the world. All were not high profile but most had an impact on the environment. Phil McCrory, a hair stylist from Alabama, first discovered how hair can help. He was watching CNN coverage on the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill and noticed the fur on Alaskan otters completely soaked with oil. He began testing how much oil he could collect with hair clippings from his salon. He then invented the hairmat, which has other uses. Hair also provides a slow protein release that is excellent for flower growers.
There are over 300,000 hair salons in the US and each cuts an average of one pound of hair a day. Salon Khouri generously pays out of pocket for postage to send your hair clippings to Matter of Trust in San Francisco, CA. Thank you for doing your part! By the way, save your old nylon stockings and bring them in to Salon Khouri on your next visit. They can be used to bag hair clippings to provide a quick net of oil collecting buoys around smaller spills. | |

Confirmations and Cancellation Review
Salon Khouri requires a 24-hour advance cancellation of appointments.
For any appointment cancelled with less than a 24-hour notice, or for any "no-show" appointment, you will be charged 50% of the missed appointment before you may schedule your next appointment. The amount will be added to your next appointment.
Please be mindful of your stylists and other customers if you must reschedule your appointment for any reason. Thank you! | |
