Paraffin Hand Treatment Free with Purchase of Conditioning Treatments
Don't let the winter doldrums take hold of your hair! Choose from our range of conditioning and repair treatments and we'll add a paraffin hand treatment ($20 value) FREE. This promotion runs from now through February 28, 2009 and may not be combined with other offers or promotions. Your hands will be their loveliest as you run them through your newly revitalized locks. Ask your stylist to help you choose the treatment that is best for your hair.
Basic Conditioning Treatment includes a rinse-out conditioning product that affects the outer layers of the hair shaft, smoothing it to make your hair feel silkier, smoother, less easily tangled. Prices range from $25 - 75 depending on the number and selection of products used.
Hair that has been exposed to the elements, received several color or other specialty product applications over time without deep conditioning, will benefit from our Noiraudepro Treatment. Ranging in price from $70-110, this deep conditioning application will restore health to your hair by using Keratin formulations based on your hair's individual needs, an oil based moisturizer to lock in moisture, HM-collagen to make hair more manageable and silk peptides to coat cuticles (outer layer of your hair shafts) evenly and add shine and smoothness to your hair. Consider adding this treatment to your regime if you are coming in for a perm or hair color.
Ready to recharge your color, add some shine and silkiness but don't have the damage necessitating a more serious conditioning? Go for the Glossing Treatment, at $40-80 and lock-in shiny hair during this dull time of year.

Oh Happy Day! The History of Valentine's Day!
Ever wonder where the customs and traditions of Valentine's Day began? A search of the History Channel offers some interesting theories, some of which we'd love to share with you. St. Valentine's Day contains hints of both Christian and ancient Roman origins. One story is that Emperor Claudius II outlawed marriage for young single men on the premise they made better soldiers than their older, married neighbors. Valentine began providing secret marriages to young lovers and was put to death for his interference with Claudius' plan. Another version has Valentine being killed for helping Christians who were imprisoned and tortured in Roman prisons. Whatever the reason, legend also offers that Valentine was imprisoned, fell in love with the jailors daughter and sent her a message of his love bearing the signature, "From your Valentine." Thus the first valentine was passed to declare the sender's love. And, legend took roots as tales were passed down, likely further embellishing and romanticizing this 'lovable' character who became known as St. Valentine and the sponsor of the day love is celebrated throughout the world.
Some historians contend that Valentines is celebrated in mid-February to commemorate the time of Valentine's death. Others believe that the church declared St. Valentines Day in mid-February to add a Christian element to the pagan rites called the Lupercalia Festival. On February 15 Romans held a fertility festival dedicated to Faunus, the Roman god of agriculture and to Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome. As young boys, Romulus and Remus were given strips of sacrificial goat's hide to 'bless' Roman women with fertility in the coming year. Women welcomed being touched with the hide as they believed in its power. On the same day, young single women would place their names in an urn. The names were drawn by local bachelors, and the matched couple remained together for the year during which many of these pairings ended in marriage.
The Greeting Card Association reports that handmade paper greetings were exchanged as early as the 1400's throughout Europe. Valentine's Day increased in popularity in 17th century Great Britain and by the 18th century, friends and lovers from all classes began exchanging handwritten notes or other sweet tokens of affection. As printing technologies progressed, printed Valentine's cards came into use. The printed Valentine came to America when in the 1840's Esther A. Howland, known as the Mother of Valentine, created exquisite cards of lace, ribbon, and colorful pictures. In today's age of technology, many admirers now opt for cleverly written e-mailed greetings.
No matter what you believe about Valentines, you most likely will admit to that flutter of anticipation when someone near and dear to you sends you a greeting, whether it is the 'old-fashioned' paper kind or an electronic version! There is after all nothing sweeter than words of endearment from a loved one.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY FROM YOUR FAMILY AT SALON KHOURI!
