Welcome to Construction Management Associates

Jerry and Jeanne Clotfelter decided to build their eventual retirement home and move from Lexington to a large wooded lot in Lawrenceburg. They were really concerned about getting the build right because their home is also the center for their business and a future home for their mother-in-law.

Jerry sought some bids from local contractors but was not impressed with what he received. We had several meetings with Jerry and Jeanne before they selected us as their preferred contractor.

Energy efficiency was a hot button for the Clotfelters. They designed a spacious home but did not want a large utility bill to go with it. We installed geothermal heat and hot water, radiant heat in the basement floors integrated with the geothermal system, icynene insulation on the rafters...changing the building envelope from the ceiling to the roof, energy efficient Low E windows, instant hot water and much much more.

I hope you enjoy seeing our clients wonderful projects. Please read on to see the details of the Clotfelter home... as we both have put in a lot of hard work and want to show it off to you!

"Wayne's World!"

Hello Friends,

Some may ask what's this CMA Company and what's UBuildIt? Like Ozzy asked "What's a Beber!"

CMA is our General Contracting Company that offers our clients the option of a more traditional way to build. You are actively involved but we manage the day to day construction so you don't have to.

UBuildIt is a national franchise that was recently purchased by two of our franchisees. We are excited about great things to come for our clients from our new owners.

UBuildIt gives you the option of managing your own project with a detailed program and plenty of help from our local UBuildIt Lexington consultants.

Mix and match both programs if you wish. Our goal is to create a building method that best fits your time constraints, your wants and needs and your ultimate goals. One size does not fit all.

If you want to learn more about these options, want a free estimate on the cost or feasibility of your project just give us a call!

Sincerely,

Wayne Henning/Owner

Construction Cost For Home Built In 1938!

Jerry and Jeanne Clotfelter
 Lawrenceburg, KY

New Single Family Residence

The Clotfelter home sits on a beautifully wooded lot at 410 Richwood Drive in Lawrenceburg, two minutes from the Bluegrass Parkway in Anderson County.

The house is built on a full poured concrete basement with radiant heating in the concrete floors tied into the geothermal heating system. The basement features a large family room, safe house, crafts room, full bath and lots of storage space.

The first floor of this ranch has a large master bedroom suite on one end and a spacious mother-in-law suite on the other end. Off the front entrance is a nice office that the Clotfelters use for their business. A beautiful custom kitchen opens to a dining room and large vaulted greatroom with fireplace. Off of these rooms is an airy open porch to enjoy their wonderful wooded setting.

A breezeway connects the house to a 1,200 sq ft garage and workshop to handle all of Jerry's upcoming projects.

Construction Costs For 3 Bedroom/1 Bath Home Built In 1938

This article appeared in the November 1938 Issue of Practical Builder Magazine. This 2 story 3 bedroom home was built in the Washington DC area back in 1938.

I use this article in some of my presentations and most people are surprised at how much things actually cost not that many years ago...at least not that many years for those of you that are close to my age!

The construction excavation for $4.30? What does it typically cost today? About $6,000! Plumbing for the home at $66.30. What does the plumbing cost today? About $12,000! Lumber and Millwork for $727.97. What about the cost today for your lumber and trim package? $40,000! Painting for $216.00 What about the cost to paint today? About $9,000!

Oh those were the days my friend....(Sounds like a good title for a song!)
