This basement renovation involved installing a full bath, billiard room, exercise room and office. The existing fireplace was built out with a brick face and hearth. We poured a colored stamped concrete patio and outside stairs up to the existing garage. A brick barbeque was constructed off the patio, outside the exterior walkout basement entrance.

Flooring Options Over Concrete

Flooring Options Over Concrete
If you have concrete flooring in your house, then you must be wondering about what would be the best flooring options over concrete that you can go for. Concrete floors tend to get very hot in summers and very cold in winters. Therefore, covering them up, is necessary.
Laminate - Installing laminate flooring on concrete is another concrete flooring idea. Laminate flooring is eco-friendly, it is easy to install, easy to clean, very durable and looks good too. It improves the overall appearance of your home, giving it a more contemporary and modern look.

Wood - One option you can never go wrong with, is wood flooring. It feels amazing, it is durable and brings into your home a very cozy atmosphere. Especially dark wood. Other options that you can try out, in wood are plywood or hardwood. Ask your interior decorator to come up with some creative plywood flooring ideasor come up with them yourself. You can also try out  bamboo flooring for your home. It may not be the best of the concrete basement flooring options, but when used in your house with good furniture and accessories, will definitely make your home look inviting.

Ceramic Tile - Ceramic tile is the other most favorite option for covering a concrete floor. Laying ceramic tiles can take sometime to complete and dry, but the final result is pretty. You'll be spoiled for choice by the many designs, patterns and styles of ceramic tiles that are available in the market. The best part of this option is that cleaning ceramic tile floors is much easier than any of the other options.

Paint - Painting concrete is also one of the good flooring options over concrete. Instead of covering it up, you can take up a concrete floor painting project in one part of your home, try your hand at it using all your creativity, and if it works, go on with the rest of the house. Try your hand at different patterns and designs using a mixture of different concrete floor paint colors and techniques.

These flooring options over concrete are the very basic ones that are cost effective and extremely durable too. So, decide which option you want to go for, because it is going to be with you, most likely for the rest of your life.
