What upgrades did you add? 
Kitchen cabinet features, faucets, double size walk in tile master shower, tile floors and crown molding thru 80% of the home and geothermal heat.
 
What was your reason for building?  to get the home we wanted from the ground up and to save money for upgrades we would'nt have been able to do with a regular builder.
 
Why did you choose UBuildIt?
 Total control to ge the home we wanted of top quality with NO mysteries or surprises! To take advantage of Don and Wayne's expertise, knowledge and experience.  
 
What was the hardest part about building? Scheduling and managing the subcontractors.

We did find some rock but the Carters wanted to remove it and put that nice full poured concrete basement in.

This home is situated on in a beautiful country setting. Extraordinary window placement allows great views from every vantage point. It features three fireplaces, one with floor to ceiling stone situated in the great room, one in the master bath and one in the basement. This home has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, loft/office library, 3 car garage and full basement for lots of recreation.

Subject: Six Most Common Questions About Building Your Own Home
 
Okay, so you're considering building your own home-but you have some questions. You've come to the right place because here are some answers.

Q: Do I Need Previous Construction Experience?
A: No. Our job is to help you every step of the way including up to 23 site visits during your construction process. You never have to lift a hammer or get your boots dirty (or even wear boots for that matter!).
 
Q: How Much Money Can I Save?
A: Builder margins typically average 15% to 25% which goes into your pocket when you manage the project yourself, minus our project fee. You can either pocket the savings (instant equity!) or use the money to build a bigger home and/or one with more amenities.
 
Q: Will I Be Doing Any Of The Actual Work?
 
A: You will be managing the process-mostly by cell phone. But you don't have to pick up a hammer. Some of our clients, however, do want to "get their hands dirty." You'll be hiring the subcontractors (with our recommendations and contacts), but if you want to hire yourself to do some of the work, you can certainly do that!
 
Q: What Role Does UBuildIt Play, Exactly?
A: We provide the construction expertise. We have access to suppliers, subcontractors, and financial providers. We visit the job site up to 23 times to make sure the timing and scheduling are on track, and to review the work and prevent and/or catch any problems. In short, we're your hands-on construction consultant.
 
Q: How Much Of My Time Will This Require?
A: If you were to hire a builder, you'd still have to work through the design, choose the materials, and make certain decisions during the building process. With UBuildIt, you will take on the responsibilities of managing your own project so you'll be coordinating subcontractors and making more decisions (with our help, of course!). You should expect to allocate 5 to 10 hours per week toward building your home during construction.
 
Q: How do you get paid?
A: We get paid a project fee that is equal to a percentage of the total build job. Our fees vary depending on the complexity of the project; we'll be happy to give you an exact quote after meeting with you to determine your specific needs. You can count on our fees being MUCH lower than the markup you'd pay a builder-which gives you more equity.

What was the best part of building?   Shopping for everything and being in charge of watching our dream home come to life! 
 
How much time did you spend on the project?  
As I didn't work outside the home "this was my job" on the average I'd spend 20 hours a week with my husband spending 5 hours a week. I spent more time than most but this was what I wanted to do.  
 
Any other comments?  
If we ever needed to rebuild we'd definately use UBuildIt!! You have total control and an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and pride that elevates confidence in yourself!! Having moved in over two years ago, we jave found nothing we would change or do differently.
