Study Links Biodiversity and Language Loss

The decline of linguistic and cultural diversity is linked to the loss of biodiversity, a study has suggested.

The authors said that 70% of the world's languages were found within the planet's biodiversity hotspots.

 

New Google Maps Antarctica Images Cater to Armchair Explorers 

Google has added historically significant imagry to its map of Antarctica so people anywhere are able to explore this remote destination. "Feel free to leave your boots and mittens behind, and embark on a trip". 

 

Europe Wants Drones to Spot Illegal Immigrants at Sea

As part of a $410 million proposal to improve border security, the European Commission, the executive body of the Union, is considering a deployment of drones above the Mediterranean Sea to keep an eye on illegal immigrants.

 

In China, a country with a million millionaires, golf is the latest status symbol - and its popularity among the country's elites is soaring.

 

Americans Least Green - And Feel Least Guilt, Study Suggests

Americans are the least likely to suffere from "green guilt" about their environmental impact, despite trailing the rest of the world in sustainable behavior, according to a new National Geographic survey.
