ArtLinks member Caroline Schofield's first major public Sculpture Commission for the new Courthouse, in Kilkenny City
Kilkenny based textile artist Caroline Schofield's work looks to
continually push and explore boundaries through painting, drawing and
in her manipulated Textile and Sculptural pieces. In all of her work
themes of life and death and her journey are explored. Caroline was also one of the artists
who worked with UK Chrysalis Arts and Kilkenny County Council Arts Office
on the Public Arts Training project Woodstock Promenade. The project,
which was developed by Kilkenny County Council and the public art
company Chrysalis Arts, supported a group of Kilkenny-based artists in
gaining new skills in the field of public art, from initial ideas for
artworks inspired by the site, through to their realisation using a
wide range of creative processes.
The project culminated in a unique Contemporary Public Art event celebrating Woodstock Gardens and the people who created them.
Caroline is currently working very hard on her first major public
Sculpture Commission for the new Courthouse, in Kilkenny City. She
fully acknowledges her confidence in applying for the commission and
her success in securing it on the training she received on the
Woodstock Promenade project in 2009.
You can follow Caroline trials and tribulations on her blog www.carolineschofield.blogspot.com
