Welcome to the ArtLinks Monthly e-Newsletter
A regular Art News and Information Bulletin from the participating ArtLinks Partner Counties: Co Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford & Wicklow

Welcome everyone to ArtLinks,

I'm saying 'welcome' as there has been a significant number of new members join in the last few months. Traffic to the website has been up 40% and its great to see more arts networking beginning to happen in the forum too. With this ever increasing level of activity,
ArtLinks is now pleased to announce its new ArtLinks WEEKLY email Digest. This has been designed to better communicate the growing amount ArtLinks members activities.

While I will continue to send out a shorter form of this eNewsletter once a month, you can now sign up for the free email ArtLinks Digest and receive weekly listings from ArtLinks every Monday morning. The email Digest will show the latest items posted from members and the ArtLinks Arts Offices, from the News, Event Calendar and Noticeboard pages. It is an automated service and it will list the headings only of items posted. So it's important that when you post your items to convey as much information as possible.  In your posted items, make sure the 'heading' contains the location, artist/group name as well as just the name of the event/course.

To sign up for the free ArtLinks email Digest, please enter your email on the home page of
www.artlinks.ienow, into the box pictured. I ho
enter your email for new email digestpe you will appreciate this service, it means that I won't live in fear of forgetting to list news items each month under an ever increasing workload and it will mean I can get out a shorter form of this enewsletter more promptly at the beginning of each month.

ArtLinks has also been delivering some new courses recently. I was delighted to organise and attend ArtLinks first ever course of Building Communities of Culture, led by Conor O'Leary of Rural Arts Networks
in Borris last Saturday. Conor shared his skills on developing and sustaining new arts events, linking communities and artists together. People from across the ArtLinks counties attended. Locally organised, community arts networks, will be the mainstay of arts in the near future and already the ArtLinks forum is providing a means for members to alert people of arts initiatives starting in their areas.

Upcoming Art highlights for the coming weeks include the Carlow African Film Festival, now in its 5th year, starting tonight at the new GB Shaw Theatre of VISUAL. There will lots of Music and Fringe Art events during the Wexford Opera Festival 2009, including the exhibition of new sculptures from the recent Wexford hosted International Granite Symposium, held at the Norman Gallery near Killane. ArtLinks tutor, Padriag McCaul, is exhibiting along with many others in the Wexford Opera Fringe events. Also checkout the exhibitions at the Wexford Arts Centre  which includes new works by ArtLinks member, Helen Gaynor and other ArtLinks members events/exhibitions listed on the ArtLinks Calendar. The very highly regarded annual Duiske Abbey Music Concerts have also been announced.

Two of Kilkenny's past ArtLinks Bursary recipient's works are now being showcased in the newly opened Kilkenny Art Office, no. 76, John St, Kilkenny. Kilkenny Arts Office is delighted to welcome all to its new larger premises - a few doors down from where it was before. On now, is Johnny Pumfrey's unique digital choral music experience installation, the Orchranoplan1.It's a fantastic project aimed at examining our sense aural space and is on until this Sat 17 Oct. Don't miss it if you are into experimental music or are involved in choirs. Tunde Toth follows with an Exhibition, Talk and Workshops on hand paper-making and her experience at the International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists Congress in Tasmania earlier this year. And just announced is a series of lunchtime talks on art and architecture, organised by Kilkenny's Butler Gallery to celebrate Kilkenny 400 years anniversary.
