A regular Art News and Information Bulletin from the participating ArtLinks Partner Counties: Co Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford & Wicklow

Hi Everyone,

While it hasn't stopped raining this last month I am however pleased to announce some good news. The recipients of our first ArtLinks Filmbase Bursaries are: Kevin Condron, Carlow; Ross Costigan, Kilkenny; Julie Cadogan, Wexford; Terence White, Wexford; and Eamonn O'Neill, Wicklow. Congratula
filmbase trainingtions everyone and thanks to the WIcklow Arts Office who organised this and the ArtLinks-Filmbase course.

These bursaries will allow the recipients to attend Filmbase training courses. As mentioned, ArtLinks assisted by the Wicklow Arts Office and their annual Wicked Film Festival, ran a 2 day Filmbase training course last weekend in Greystones with film producer, Conor Barry. It was an in-depth course covering all aspects of producing a short film. Conor has produced a number of award winning short films so it was great to hear firsthand the many aspects involved in professional film-making.
Incidentally the ArtLinks-Filmbase course was held in the new all purpose Greystones Theatre and Studio building - there is an Open day this weekend - they have music recording studios, dance and photography studios, a theatre and a visual exhibition space (see details below).

The other big news is VISUAL in Carlow is opening this month with a range of activities and the Wexford Arts Dept is working towards Wexford's First Culture Night. I've put details below about these two important events. There is plenty more art activities across the five counties this month and do keep posting your news and events too!

Also, ArtLinks and the Kilkenny Arts Office are moving to bigger and better premises, from No. 72 to No.76 John Street, Kilkenny this coming week. Some of you may have visited the inaugural exhibition at No. 76, 'The Museum of Broken Relationships' in the new premises during the Kilkenny Arts Festival. It has been a hugely popular exhibition, attracting media attention from around the country and over 3000 visitors! (it's finishing tomorrow, 4 Sept). Our office space will be above and we expect to be in by the end of next week, all going well.

ArtLinks is also working to deliver some new courses for the Autumn: training artists to work with the disabled, a course on developing rural Arts networks, literature courses and an introduction to video & audio podcasting. And in early 2010 working with the Visual George Bernard Shaw Theatre to support theatre practitioners. Details will be circulated in the coming weeks.

Enjoy it all and delighted as always to hear your comments.
