Welcome to the ArtLinks e-Newsletter
A regular Art News and Information Bulletin from the participating ArtLinks Partner Counties: Co Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford & Wicklow

Hi everyone,

ArtLinks wishes all its members and friends a very merry Christmas!  Do remember to remind people that ArtLinks is now the biggest Arts Directory in the South East (at 997 members);  it is the perfect place to buy unique creations direct from arts practitioners from you local area: music CD's, books, visual artworks, film work to fibre art ... It could also be used to find and gift skills to others - for e.g. what about organising a gift of music, painting or photoshop lessons, or a website or blog from an ArtLinks member to a friend. The Directory's strength is that is is uncovering a vast array of local creative work/skills that we can all enjoy or benefit from. This in turn further supports local art practitioners work and enriches our local communities. And if you are in Wicklow early this week you can also see local art & craft in the Wicklow County buildings foyer (see the link on the right for details).!

practice logoWe also worked with another new partner earlier this month in Wexford. ArtLinks Practice.ie workshop Practice.ie organised a very successful and enjoyable course for arts practitioners from ALL Art Disciplines who work with children and young people. Do join practice.ie (also check that you have selected this category on your ArtLinks Profile page in case people are looking for members who work with the young). Practice.ie will be developing a code of practice for people working in this area, so ArtLinks highly recommends that members join this  excellent development & support organisation.

The pilot ArtLinks Mentoring Advice Sessions for Visual Artists across the five counties has been going very well, with a lot of positive feedback from the artists involved. ArtLinks wishes to thank the mentors Eamonn Carter, Director of Gorey College of Art and artist, John Noel Smith, for their very valuable feedback and the generous career guidance and encouragement they have given to all the mentees. ArtLinks hopes to deliver mentoring for other art forms in the future.

It's been great to see members using the new links on their profile pages and google maps. As I write this I'm listening to ArtLinks members' m
usic on their  myspace links. For the New Year I'd encourage all myspace logomembers to check their ArtLinks Profiles and make sure all their info, news and links are listed so we can all see each others work (do you have a link to your film work on YOUTUBE listed for e.g?) Remember your Arts Office, event organisers, curators and the media are increasingly using this website to contact Arts Practitioners and groups -so make sure your email and phone numbers are up to date and that you list all your skills in the different Arts Categories. Again, if you are running courses or events in January, do post them soon. And for those that have blogs, do add your blog links to your Profile pages, as it automatically feeds news to your Profile Page.

Happy Christmas and best wishes for your all Creative work in the New Year!

PS Just a reminder of the new ArtLinks website features below- make updating your ArtLinks page a fun, New Years resolution (it'll help promote your work)

ArtLinks Members Website - use the New Features reminder!

The main aim in these new website developments are to further strengthen ArtLinks aim in 'providing means to create a culture of self-sufficiency and collaboration' between ArtLinks members.
artlinks skills shop
One of the more subtle but probably more important feature for members in this economic climate is the new ArtLinks Skills Shop on the homepage; if you list your creative skills when you login, people can search for them easily now by entering key words. I urge all members to login, Edit their Profile and list their skills now.

Do you want people to know where you are? There is now an optional google mapsGoogle map feature if you want people to find your studio, venue, meeting, exhibition or festival and the Forum has been brought to the home page, so do add your members image (avatar) so we can all get to know each other better. Members can also list themselves under various artforms, as many who work creatively, work across many disciplines.
social media
ArtLinks Members can now link to other sites where their work may be hosted and network with others: Flickr (image online service for visual artists), you tube (filmmakers), myspace (musicians) etc

I think from the many positive comments we get about the website, many ArtLinks Members are finding it an excellent regional Arts resource and its starting to provide a growing and important sense of community. It is also highlighting a diverse range of creativity and activities, so do make the most of it.

Read about all the new features here, and login to update and make use of these features now! Here are links to members who are using many of the new features
