Welcome to the ArtLinks e-Newsletter
A regular Art News and Information Bulletin from the participating ArtLinks Partner Counties: Co Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford & Wicklow

Hi everyone,

Its been a very busy month on many different fronts. First I want to tell you
that bookings are now open for the new ArtLinks courses in Drama and Theatre that will be run later this month. There have been steady bookings already but you can assist the administration by booking early. And all those involved in film, drama & theatre, please assist the development of drama / theatre in your region by forwarding this email to other individuals and groups who may not have registered with ArtLinks yet.
Wexford Opera House logo
This is big month for Wexford in the opening of its new Opera House. ArtLinks wishes the Wexford Opera House and its 57th Opera Festival season every success and also to our members who are exhibiting or participating during the festival. You might want to subscribe to the Wexford Opera House's e-newsletter to keep informed of all the new activity there.

I'd also like to highlight a very special Film FestivalCAFF poster. Now in its 4th year, the Carlow African Film Festival and Symposium provides an annual platform to celebrate and explore the intellectual and aesthetic diversity of African culture and promotes social interaction and integration by bringing together the various communities of Africa, Ireland and indeed the World. All the films are listed on the ArtLinks calendar. And mentioning film, there are 3 societies in the south east that have listed their winter programmes: Carlow's Blackstairs Film Society, Kilkenny's Film Club  and Dungarvan's Old Market House Arts Centre Film Club.

Finally, you will notice that ArtLinks (see below) will be partnering with other National Arts Resource Organisations to further deliver industry recognised, professional development programmes for all Arts forms. Check out our ArtLinks Partners page for more information about these organisations - we'll be adding more in the coming months. To those organisations we'd like to extend a warm welcome to ArtLinks.

Best of all enjoy all the local drama, performances, exhibitions and films,

The ArtLinks Directory now lists over 900 members, groups & festivals! But have you checked your profile page recently?

The ArtLinks Directory is now the largest Arts Directory South East. It has begun to highlight the many amatuers and professionals that are involved in the creative sector, but are you listed?

This e-newsletter is sent to all those currently on the 5 Arts Offices Databases. Therefore receiving this e-newsletter does not mean necessarily that you are a registered ArtLinks member.

To check you/your group are Registered: goto the homepage of ArtLinks.ie, and go to ///Find Artists/Group and look through the drop- down menu to find your name. If your name is not there, you are NOT an ArtLinks member. However, Registration is easy, click the Register button above on the homepage (this also creates your Profile Page).

For those that are registered, please check your details. Many people register and leave their Profile pages blank - a real missed opportunity to promote your work and skills. I know many galleries and radio stations are using ArtLInks to find interesting creative work/projects, and just as important, increasing numbers of members are networking with others who share similar interests or using it to find people with creative skills with whom they can collaborate.

Please email info@artlinks.ie now if you have forgotton your login details to update your page and keep the Directory useful for all. Remember, its free to register and promote your creative activities.

ArtLinks Bursary Update!
Recent news from  ArtLinks Bursary recipients

Jonny PumfreyThe  2007 ArtLinks Kilkenny Bursary recipient, Jonny Pumfrey has been in touch recently. Here's some news from Jonny about his project and do play with the sample orchranoplan on his website - its great fun! (in the coming weeks more details on all the Bursary recipients will be posted on the website).

4500 vocal samples later and the Orchranoplan, a virtual choir in the round, is ready for lift off.  Since receiving the ArtLinks Bursary and with the help of the Kilkenny Choir, I have been creating music as much about melody and harmony as place, space and movement.  www.orchranoplan.com  A public performance is on its way.

Thanks for sharing at Podcamp 27 Sept Kilkenny podcamp logo

To the increasing number of ArtLinks members, thanks for attending Podcamp 2. Members from literary, music, craft, visual arts and theatre backgrounds all contributed to the day and shared how using social media; such as blogs, podcasting and print-on-demand books, are helping profile their work to new audiences. A suprise to some was the noticeable number of women in attendance who are clearly seeing the benefits of these new online means of communication. I expect Podcamp will grow and grow as people understand how cost effective and increasingly simple these media are to employ. For instance, people who can use Word can quite simply manage a blog site and there was a large roomful of excited bloggers at Podcamp.

To hear comments about Podcamp (it has been reviewed on an online radio), listen at http://www.podcampireland.com

A big thanks also to the Podcamp team, Krishna De (a leading Social Media Strategist), Bernie Goldbach (IT tutor at Tipperary Institute) and Ken McGuire (ArtLinks Blogging tutor; also of Kilkennymusic.com and Devious Theatre) for again organising this free event in the South East, a fun day in which people could share their experiences and successes in using social media. Also thanks to Nicola Brown, an ArtLinks member who shared her blogging success story.
