bringing the Arts together in the South East
Welcome to the ArtLinks e-Newsletter A regular Art News and Information bulletin from the participating ArtLinks Partner Counties: Co Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow
Hello everyone,
News about the ArtLinks programme for 2008 follows. Firstly, we are now inviting applications from all ArtLinks members for the five 2008 ArtLinks €8000 Bursaries, see information below. We are advertising the annual ArtLinks Bursaries earlier in the year to fit in with the ongoing development of the ArtLinks programme. Make sure your application is submitted before the closing date of 31 March.
Our Spring ArtLinks courses see a change, in that we are programming all our courses for the business side of working in the creative sector, earlier in the year. These courses will be announced in our next brochure and e-newsletter. Our first courses in 2007 were very popular with excellent feedback from attendees, and its positive to hear that people have made new connections, some resulting in new work opportunities, from these courses. Some of you have also contacted me in regards to new websites that you have created since attending our template website courses. It's great to see all this creative work now being available to larger audiences.
In the Autumn we will be holding our first professional development courses in Drama and Theatre and Film. The later date for these courses is to allow more time for all those involved in these areas to be aware of ArtLinks and the new courses available to them locally. Do help to expand the ArtLinks directory by letting any local amateur or professional drama/theatre groups or performers know about ArtLinks. Encourage them to register so they can be invited/involved in upcoming courses and be more aware of others working locally in this field.
A lot of new developments and events are happening in the Arts in the South East, see the links here to the right and visit our online News and Events calendars. A highlight for me personally was being recently invited to the site of VISUAL in Carlow to see the rapid progress of the new 300 seat theatre and the largest gallery space for contemporary art in Ireland, with adjoining galleries for new media and artists in residence. Situated in the grounds of St Patrick's College, which offers leading programmes in the humanities and surrounded by three nearby schools, VISUAL will undoubtedly be important for Carlow but it will also be an exciting focal point for many involved in the Arts in the South East. The expected opening date will be in mid 2009. Please visit the Carlow Arts Office website for updates. (Above is a recent aerial shot of Visual)
Looking forward to see you on the ArtLinks courses,

 Cathy Fitzgerald, ArtLinks ArtLinks Director
