Monday 26 Nov 07 is the big launch of ArtLinks and I hope many of you
will be able to come and celebrate this new programme. I attended the
initial Exchange day in Kilkenny in May 06 and its exciting to think the ArtLinks website, bursaries and the courses that are now being delivered throughout the five counties. Please attend on time and bring invitation for entry or RSVP to info@artlinks.ie No late admittance due to limited capacity.
Our
last music course is on this Saturday in Wicklow - places are still
available, see details below. Do forward this email to any
musicians/bands you know. The line up of speakers is exciting and this
may be the first our of seminars to be podcast - to share with our wider
ArtLinks audience!
ArtLinks
membership is growing - just a reminder again that ArtLinks is for both
amateur and professional creative people so don't feel that your
creative work is not of a standard to be on the website. I've heard
that people have helped friends with limited web skills get their work
online on the ArtLinks site, showing their work to a wider audience for the first time! And people
are starting to network and share information in the online forums.
Remember too, the the 500th person to register wins a prize, see above right(we are not far off that now!)
Thanks to all those who have
helped or attended the ArtLinks professional courses this year. It is
so nice to meet you all and hear first hand ideas and suggestions for
future courses.
ArtLinks is also for the wider community; the
directory of people now listed on the ArtLinks database is now of value
for people searching for all types of creative people, their work or
specialist skills. The online calendars are also great for anyone who
is interested in finding out what is going on in the Arts in the 5
counties.

Official Launch of ArtLinks: Mon 26 Nov
Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle, 5.30 -7.30pm
Come Celebrate the initiation of the professional development service for creative practitioners living in Counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.
An evening of music, drama and dance is being planned to celebrate Ireland's first new artist led regional arts.
 The Official Launch of ArtLinks will be conducted by
Dr Micheál Ó'Súilleabháin, Prof Music Univ. College Limerick. The evening line up will also include critically acclaimed author of the Artemis Fowlseries,  Wexford born writer Eoin Colfer, and a spectacular live performances including a belly dance from Sandra Keil of Khelashi Dance, Wexford. Croí are a group of traditional Irish musicians based in Kilkenny featuring Colm O'Chaoibh on guitar, Noel Hoyne on
bodhrán, Anthony Mc Cahley on fiddle and Eoin Maher on low whistle. Also performing are the acclaimed Catapult Dance Company.
For the Evening Finale, Camille O'Sullivan, artist-extraordinaire, will treat us to a taste of her famous show-stopping performance.

Getting Ahead in Music Industry in Wicklow
 News: Ken Allen, Faction Records, who formerly signed bands for Sony & Polydor, and who is attending these seminars, is asking all muscians/bands who are attending to bring any demos for him.
Calling all musicians/bands! People under 18 years welcome! A full day of practical information, presented for and by local musicians, including guests from IMRO and Faction Records. Course will cover:
- Music copyright, royalties and sponsorship with Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO)
- Record production; Producers and youngbands/musicians perspectives
- Marketing/Image Development from Kilkennymusic.com,
- Effective web strategies for musicians/bands,
- Working with the media (writing professional press releases)
- Best practice for recording live events (audio and visual)
