Volunteers in the Spotlight
Volunteers are the driving force behind PursuitSAFETY.
Jeff Vesely, CFO for PursuitSAFETY, decided to protect PursuitSAFETY's identity. Jeff's efforts secured a registered trademark from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for PursuitSAFETY's name, logo, and slogan, "Working for a safer way." Graphic designer Priscilla Dominguez created the logo and slightly modified it before Jeff began the trademark process. Priscilla is also the design talent behind our 4-color brochure. Advisory board member Rob Bastian said it first when he recommended "Working for a safer way" as PursuitSAFETY's slogan.
To everyone who volunteers for PursuitSAFETY,
Thank YOU!

Speaking Out
to Save Lives
Speakers Candy Priano and Kim Schlau will represent PursuitSAFETY by speaking at law enforcement venues. They believe the stories of their daughters' deaths will save lives.
Feb. 7: Nevada Department of Public Safety
PursuitSAFETY Midwestern Team Leader Kim Schlau will give two presentations as part of academy EVOC training for new cadets. Kim talks about her daughters, Jessica and Kelli Uhl. An Illinois state trooper killed the sisters when he crashed into their car while traveling 126 mph to a non-emergency call.
Feb. 23: Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Summit
Police chiefs and sheriffs will hear Candy Priano present, "The Other Side of the Windshield." Candy is committed to saving lives ... the lives of innocent bystanders and police officers. She shares her research and stories about innocent victims of pursuit. She says, "I was helpless to save my daughter Kristie's life, but I believe her story will save the lives of others."
In addition, Candy and Kim will participate on a panel to discuss police pursuit policies at the Summit.

PursuitSAFETY's upcoming events and award program are reasons for celebrating! ... and Celebrate We Will. We kick off our history-making events with A Night of Conversation on January 30. It's the first time for people who believe in this cause to connect with each other via a conference call. Next, Family Connections 2011, April 8-9, will be another history maker when many of us travel to meet each other face-to-face in St. Louis, MO. PursuitSAFETY's Safer Way Award will recognize and honor law enforcement officers who think outside the box. These stories and more are all here. Enjoy the read! Striving for Safety
Win a Safer Way Training Day
for Your Law Enforcement Agency!
---News Release---
Police officers are rarely acknowledged when they avoid a chase and still bring about the apprehension of known flight risks. PursuitSAFETY plans to correct this oversight by bringing this issue to light through its Safer Way Award. The Highway Safety Committee of the International Association of Chiefs of Police will judge the nominees based on achievements prior to and through the year 2010.
The winner's law enforcement agency receives an all-expense paid Training Day that includes instruction by certified Emergency Vehicle Operating Course (EVOC) instructors, simulation-based driver training, a keynote speaker, and information on the need for officers to "Click It" (wear a seat belt).
In addition, PursuitSAFETY is seeking corporate sponsorships for The Safer Way Training Day.
