Greetings!,
This holiday season, Redeem-Her will provide hundreds of indigent, incarcerated women in New Jersey with four blank, stamped holiday cards that they can mail to their children and family members.
This project is critically important because often by the time a woman's choices and behaviors have lead her to prison, she has estranged herself from her family. Often she has been emotionally and physically absent from her children. Hearts are hurt, relationships are broken, and walls are built. Even when genuinely remorseful and desirous of family reconciliation, considering the emotions involved the first step seems beyond reach. The holidays present a unique opportunity to approach children and families in a non-confrontational way through such a simple way: a holiday card. With each pack of cards we include a publication on restoring family relationships that is written specifically for people in prison.
Redeem-Her is asking for donations of holiday cards and postage. If you have extra cards from years past, now's the time to get them out of your attic and into a very good use. Last year we distributed 1,100 packs (that's 4,400 cards). We want to match that total this year, and already have approximately 60% of the cards and 25% of the postage needed. So, perhaps the best and easiest way to help is to donate a roll of stamps, or funds in increments of $41 (the cost of a roll).
We are a federal tax-exempt organization and your donations are 100% tax deductible.
Thank you for partnering with us!
