Happy New Year!
 
With the new year comes the promise of change and the LGBT Aging Project has a few new changes to share with you. Please make sure to read the section on our new email address because there are a couple important steps you will need to take so you don't miss the next issue of "Do Tell" and any future news from us.
 
Also, we are very proud to announce that a new piece of legislation our policy team has been working on is being filed today which will address LGBT Elder Inclusion. We need your help to collect co-sponsors! Read more below about this.

As if January 1st our new email addresses are:
 
The new phone number for the LGBT Aging Project is:
(617) 522- 1292. When you call that number you will have a opportunity to push "1" to reach Lisa Krinsky, Director or push "2" to reach Bob Linscott, Assistant Director. To reach an operator push "0" or you can stay on the line and leave a message in our general mailbox.
 
Steps you need to take to ensure uninterrupted emails from us:
1) Change our email address from the old 'ethocare.org' address to the new address.
2) Make sure you add our new addresses to your computer's address book, that ensures that future messages from us will not appear in your junk mail folder.
 
We are still located at 555 Amory Street in Boston, we did not move our office, we simply got our own email domain (which was long overdue).
 
 
Legislative Action Alert: New Bill Addressing LGBT Elder Inclusion
The LGBT Aging Project has is supporting new legislation which is sponsored by Representative Barbara L'Italien. This Bill would require the Executive Office of Elder Affairs to develop a curriculum for delivery of accessible and appropriate services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender elders and caregivers. The curriculum would focus on the prevention and elimination of discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression as well as on improving access to services to LGBT elders and caregivers.
 
We need your help to get your legislators to co-sponsor the bill. Take 5 minutes to click the link at the bottom of this article and get your legislators contact information. Ask your representative to contact Barbara L'Italien's office (617-722-2080) and ask them to co-sponsor this Bill addressing LGBT Elder Inclusion.
 
DobkinSave The Date: Special Women's Event Saturday February 7th.
 
The LGBT Aging Project is proud to announce a very special event with the legendary Lesbian icon, Alix Dobkin. She will be the guest at the February "Out to Brunch." Alix will be offering an afternoon of music and community organizing for older LBT women.
 
This event will be held at Roslindale House (120 Poplar Ave, Roslindale, MA) on Saturday February 7th from 11am to 1:30pm.  Reservations are required. To RSVP for this event please send an email to Gloria Tower at outtobrunch@gmail.com or call her at (617) 477-6682.
 
 StuLGBT Aging Project goes "Hollywood"!
 
Did you know that the LGBT Aging Project is working with LA filmmaker, Stu Maddux ("Bob and Jack's 52 Year Adventure") on his next film "Gen Silent."  This latest film is about aging in the LGBT community. Stu has been traveling back and forth between LA and Boston since September. He has become quite a regular presence at both Cafe Emmanuel and "Out to Brunch" because he is featuring several folks from the meal sites in this film.
 
If you would like to learn more about this project you can get up to date information from the film's website through the link below. Don't be surprised if you recognize a number of familiar Boston faces on the site, especially on his Blog. One Degree of Separation with Obama!

...On Saturday January 10th the Out to Brunch crowd had a very special concert by singer, Catie Curtis. Catie told the women that her next concert following the brunch would be in Washington DC performing at HRC Inaugural Ball with Melissa Etheridge, Cyndi Lauper and Rufus Wainwright. From our Brunch to Obama's ears!.
