LGBT Aging Project
A social worker approached the leader of a local bereavement group to see if her client, an older gay man who recently lost his partner of 42 years, would be welcome in that group. After some lengthy consideration the response was this: the man would be welcome provided he didn't discuss the nature of his relationship.

The LGBT Aging Project is proud to announce a solution to this critical problem:Bereavement Ad

  • A state wide program of six free LGBT Bereavement groups is launching this fall in Massachusetts.
  • Each group will run for six consecutive weeks and will be led by a licensed clinical social worker who specializes in bereavement issues in the LGBT Community.
  • These free groups are open to any lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one (family member, friend, partner/spouse).
  • The first two groups are in Worcester and Boston. Future locations include Cambridge, South Shore, Northampton and Cape Cod.

The first two groups are as follows:

The Worcester Group: Tueday evenings starting October 21.
The Boston Group: Wednesday evenings starting October 22.

Both groups will meet from 6:00pm to 7:30.
