Greetings!
I hope you are enjoying the final weeks of summer! What a summer we had, starting with our T-Dance in June followed by our participation in the Nation's first Senior Pride Coalition! In July we celebrated our historic victory: the passage of the MassHealth Equality Bill which Governor Deval Patrick signed into law on July 31. This legislation ensures that same sex married couples are eligible for spousal benefits under the state/federal Medicaid program, known as MassHealth. The MassHealth Equality law is the first piece of legislation that codifies the 2003 Goodridge decision for marriage equality in the Commonwealth.
As Labor Day approaches we are already looking at our schedule for September which is shaping up to be a busy month as you will see from our upcoming events listed below.

Worcester Pride
Saturday September 13: 2 to 6pm
Look for us at the Pride Fair / Business Expo where we will be joined by the Elder Services of Worcester Area, Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging and the Worcester Senior Center.
Follow The Rainbow Bridge: MA NASW Workshop
Tuesday September 23: 8:30AM to 12:30pm
The Bridge, 4 Mann Street, Worcester, MA
This workshop will highlight and identify the needs and resources particular to GLBT individuals in different age groups.

We are looking for LGBT Senior Speakers!
We have several opportunities to bring LGBT Seniors with us to a variety of presentations on LGBT Aging. We are currently looking for LGBT Seniors who live in the following areas:
* Worcester
* South Shore

Remembering Del Martin: Pioneering Community Hero
Del Martin, 87, died today in San Francisco, Calif. Martin married Phyllis Lyon, her partner of 55 years, on June 16, 2008. In 1955, the couple joined six other lesbians in founding the Daughters of Bilitis in San Francisco, the first lesbian rights organization in the nation. In 1997 and 2004, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force honored Martin and Lyon for their decades of community service.
