Happy New Year!
2010 was a challenging year for all of us at the Arc. 2011 will be a year full of possibilities. In this months edition of the Arc E-News you'll find info on our services, a calendar of upcoming events, photos, news and stories about our clients...plus an Arc Store coupon.
Since 1953, The Arc of Butte County has provided services for special needs children and adults with developmental disabilities. In 2010, we serve over 900 families in Butte and Glenn Counties. If you have any questions or suggestions we'd love to hear from you! Contact us at (530) 891.5865 or leahmckean@arcbutte.org |
Your Support Makes All The Difference
In 2011, the Arc of Butte County celebrates 58 years of transforming the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Your continued support, solid management and fiscal responsibility have enabled us to continue providing state-of-the-art programs and services to under-served citizens of an economically disadvantaged region.
In the early years of the organization, it was necessary to create basic services for children and adults. Arc members were instrumental in the establishment of the first special education classes and sheltered workshops in Butte County. Following the creation of these fundamental services, Arc helped to develop the local Special Olympics, created a day activity center for adults who were severely disabled, began an infant stimulation program, and provided training to prepare adults with developmental disabilities for independent living.
Throughout the years, our top priority has always been to offer information and support to parents and children with developmental and/or other disabling conditions. It is ignorance and prejudice that threaten to handicap our citizens with disabilities more than any psychological challenge. We are working continuously to reduce and eliminate ignorance and prejudice.
With your continued support the Arc will succeed. Here's to another 58 years of hope and service!

Holiday Celebrations at the Arc Pavilion
Arc clients and instructors had a wonderful holiday celebration in the Arc Pavilion in December.
Everyone had a chance to spread a little holiday cheer by spending time with friends playing games, listening to music, sharing gifts and eating tasty treats.
There are plenty of fun pictures on the Arc's Facebook page. Click here to see them all. Try to guess who dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus? Instructors engage clients in a variety of constructive activities that aid in acquiring social skills, exercise and building strong self esteem. The Arc's Adult Day Program provides both center based and community experiences as well as paid work experience in the ARC Stores.
Want to learn more about our ADP? Please contact Nelson in the Chico office 891.5865 or Ed in the Oroville office 532.1272. or by sending a message to infor@arcbutte.org
