5th Annual ARC Store Fashion Show 9/10th
We are happy to announce the 5th Annual "ARC Store Fashion Show" on Friday, Sept 10th @ 12:30pm. Clients from the Arc's Day Program will be modeling the wonderful clothes.
Arc Adult Day Program Instructor Julie Larsen and her team have been working with their developmentally disabled clients picking out fun outfits from the Chico ARC Store, learning how to walk the 'catwalk', choosing music and most importantly fostering teamwork.
"The clients are very excited about the show," says Larsen, "They are having a great time picking out clothes from the Chico ARC Store and music. We value activities like this because it's a fun way to reinforce a client's positive self esteem."
See all of the 2009 Fashion Show pix on our Facebook Page!
The clients will spend the morning before the fashion show having their hair and makeup done at the Beauty College. "For many of our clients going to a salon is a special treat and an educational experience as well," says Larsen.
This event is free, open to the public....and a lot of fun, too!

Yep! We gave away 1,000 free ARC Store reusable canvas shopping bags in two days! Thank you to everyone who came out to the Thursday Night farmers market in Chico and the Oroville Hospital farmers market booths to grab a bag. It was great fun meeting all of you.
A big thank you to Colleen and the ADP clients for helping in Oroville.
Everyone knows to try the ARC Store first when looking for a bargain however few know that the ARC Store offers a lot more to the community then a place to save money. The ARC Store also offers paid work experience to over 100 ARC Adult Day Program clients in both Chico and Oroville.
"The ARC Store and the ARCoffee cafe offer our clients the chance to learn valuable skills," say Nelson Corwin, ADP Coordinator, "Paid work experience, social skills, math plus it builds their self esteem."

Special Thank You: Mark Adams
Many thanks to the ARC staff, BOD, volunteers and especially Mark Adams, of NorthStar Engineering, for making our first "Bridge The Gap" Annual Campaign a success! With Mark's enthusiasm and dedication leading the way we raised $32,000 in pledges.
There are an estimated 240,000 individuals with developmental disabilities in California alone. Sadly, there is a growing population of special needs children right here in our community. The stresses of everyday life greatly increase when a family is faced with the extraordinary challenges of parenting an individual with special needs. 80% of parents of children with Autism divorce. 63% of family-member caregivers battle sleep deprivation, depression and anxiety.
Since 1953, the ARC of Butte County has provided high quality services for families with special needs children and adults with developmental disabilities. In 2010, we serve approx 900 families who have members with a developmental disability in Butte and Glenn Counties (Calif., USA). Your donations will help us continue to "Bridge the Gap" between hope and reality for our clients and their families.
We sincerely thank you Mark for your support and hard work on behalf of the ARC.
