Last December five families received Holiday Baskets
from the Arc of Butte County. Thanks to donations from ARC staff and
supporters the baskets were filled with turkey and all the trimmings plus hand
knit scarves and holiday decorations.
The families who received baskets were Alicia Castenada,
Carol Biggs, Tracy Griffin and Robert and Eva Caddick from Arc's Day Program.
You can see more pictures of the happy families on the ARC's FaceBook page.
We wish to all the individuals that made these Holiday
Baskets possible. Special thanks to OO Lehmkuhl family, Richard and Thelma
Richter and their daughter Bonnie Bethel, Patti Thomas, Marian Jackson, Ray and
Valerie Fennell, Raeleen Rose, Shoua Lo Connie Brugge who knit scarves and hats
for everyone, Charlie Williams and the many caring people in our
community.

ADP "Art with Alan" Chico Class
Many of the Chico's Adult Day Program clients look forward to the creative projects at the regular Mon/Wed art class with Alan Carrier. Carrier, a local artist originally from Montreal, enjoys teaching the ARC clients to express themselves with a wide variety of creative mediums. He has quite a few new ideas for 2010 that should have our clients and community pleased... I'll keep you posted as things develop. Surely, ADP client Robert Caddick, seen above with his newly painted UFO piece, will be very pleased to learn more ways to express his creative side. Questions about the Art Class or the Chico ADP? Please, contact Nelson or Dodi.

In Honor of Lorraine Sheehan
Recently the Arc of the US announced the passing of a powerful family advocate, Lorraine Sheehan.
So many advocates remember
Lorraine across the nation for her political toughness and intelligence
and her compassion and kindness. Ms Sheehan was the prototypical
advocate in The Arc straight from the mold of the founding moms in the
association. She then broke out and created a new example of an even
more powerful and influential leader for people with disabilities and
their families.
Read more about Sheehan's remarkable work on the ARC's Blog here www.arcbutte.org
