Chico ADP Gives to the Jesus Center

The ARC's Chico Adult Day Program runs a small "Coffee Shop" Monday thru Friday for ARC staff and clients. They sell coffee, donuts, fruit and breakfast burritos. It's a great way for the clients to learn team work, communication skills and math. Normally the clients use the money for "Fun Friday" activities.

Well, October was different. "I got to thinking about how the clients want to be accepted as part of the community," said Dodi Powell, ADP Supervisor, "So I suggested we give to the community." The clients and instructors discussed the idea further and it was decided that all the money raised by the little "Coffee Shop" in the month of October would be donated to The Jesus Center, the local homeless shelter.

Donation

At the end of October a group of ADP Instructors and clients went on a field trip to the Jesus Center to hand deliver their hard earned donation.

If you have questions about the Chico's ADP, please contact Nelson or Dodi.

Thanksgiving Baskets to ARC Families

Three Arc of Butte County Families received Thanksgiving Food Baskets at the Arc's Chico Admin Office. The baskets were full of tasty treats from turkey to potatoes to pumpkin pies.

"Arc staff worked hard gathering the donated food," shares Patti Thomas, Independent Living Program Director," Bonnie Bethel, ILS Coordinator, even made homemade strawberry jam and Jennifer White, Office Manager, made the lovely baskets."

The families had a special Cooking Class with their ILS Instructors the day before Thanksgiving. They learned how to prepare the special meal including kitchen safety. You can see photos of the happy families on the ARC's FaceBook Page or at www.arcbutte.org

The Arc of Butte County would like to thank everyone who donated to the Thanksgiving Food Baskets. Including but not limited to: O.O. Lehm Kuhl, Patti Thomas, Bonnie Bethel, Jennifer White, Lynn Brown and Vickie Colgan.

If you have questions about ARC's ILS Program, please, contact Patti Thomas, Associate Director

Gift Wrap Booth Needs Elves, Dec19-24

The ARC's Annual Gift Wrap Booth has been an annual tradition for over 30 years. Every year we are fortunate to have volunteers from the community to staff the booth. We need your help again.

"It's great fun, " says Patti Thomas, Arc Associate Director, "My son Michael and I always spend a few hours each season at the booth wrapping gifts. We get to spend time together and spread holiday joy at the same time."

This year we'll have the Gift Wrap Booth in both ARC Stores (Chico and Oroville) from Sat, Dec 19th thru Wed, 24th, 10am-6pm.

Funds raised by this event help the ARC's Family Support Programs.

Give and hour or give afternoon you and you'll make a difference for special needs children and adults in out community.

Have questions? Want to volunteer?? Please, contact Leah at
leahmckean@arcbutte.org or 891.5865
