Oroville ARC Store Offers Free Books to Kids
During the month of October the Oroville ARC Store will be distributing "Discover Reading" Book Vouchers to the children (grades K-8th) in the Oroville community.
Since 1953, The Arc has been devoted to providing services for developmentally disabled children and adults. We are committed to reducing the consequences of developmental disabilities through education, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and community. The Oroville ARC Store (2745 Oro Dam Blvd) receives book donations every day... so, we thought why not share some of them with the children in town? Spread the joy of reading and educate the community about the Arc and our wonderful clients. We are optimistic that book donations will keep up with demand. Interested in receiving a book voucher for your child? Please, ask your child's teacher or school principal if they are participating in the program.

Best In Chico... 8th Year in a Row!
WOW! The ARC Store won 1st Place in the Chico News & Review's "Best in Chico"... again!
From the "Best Of Chico" Guide in the CN&R... "Chico is a great thrift store town, and the favorite is the south-Chico behemoth known simply as The ARC Store. In an ongoing circle of recycling, people and businesses of Chico drop off their used clothing, kitchen wares, books, records, electronic equipment and furniture, only to return and pick up more bargains to replace their donated goods. Of course, Arc is a lot more than your typical thrift store; the money from your purchases goes to the Arc of Butte County, the local program that serves the disabled in our community."
Brenda Easter (ARC Store Manager), Shelley & Marcia (ARC Store Supervisors) all smiles.
By the way, we're happy to say, The Arc of Butte County placed 1st in Oroville charities and 3rd in Chico. A big THANK YOU to everyone who voted for us! We appreciate your support of the store and our programs.

MASSIVE Book Sale MASSIVE Hit
The ARC Store staff wants to thank everyone who came out for the MASSIVE Book Sale in the ARC Pavilion. It was a great success!
Did you miss the book sale? That's a shame since all paperbacks were only 25 cents and hardbound 50 cents. Ah well, don't worry, we'll do it again in a few months.
Proceeds from the BIG BOOK SALE benefit the ARC's Family Support programs... and with the recent California budget cuts that's more important then ever.
Questions? Please, contact the ARC Store manager Brenda Easter at 343.3666 or info@arcbutte.org

Annie B's THANK YOU
This year is a financial struggle for everyone. We all read the headlines concerning unemployment and business stagnation. However, rarely mentioned are the severe problems experienced by nonprofits. Donations are down, grants are drying up, and the government is reducing or eliminating many contracts. We know it may have been a struggle for you to make a contribution. So we want to say thank you to everyone who did donate to the ARC thru the Annie B's Community Drive
Your donate during the Annie B's Community Drive will be supplemented with a percentage grant from North Valley Community Foundation (NVCF)... which makes it worth even more to the ARC's Family Support Programs!
The ARC Board of Directors, staff, instructors and the kids all say.... Thank you! |
