Last month a group of ARC Administration and staff attended the FOCUS Film Festival's presentation of "Darius Goes West".
This is a poignant story of a determined young man who set out with a large group of caregivers and friends on a cross country trek from Georgia to Hollywood. The initial purpose of the trip is to get his wheelchair revamped on MTV's "Pimp my Ride". Along the way, the film transforms into a documentary on accessibility, and a trek to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which Darius is afflicted with and that also took the life of his older brother.
"While we were there, I ran into Tutor Staff Member Stephen Moore, and consumer Jeremy Lyford," shares Colleen Nelson, Tutor Coordinator, "When I how he liked the film, Jeremy responded, " Definitely."

Oroville ADP Clients Get Crafty
Oroville ADP Clients and Instructors have figured out a way to make a little green from their artistic talents!
"We've been having lots of fun with these holiday theme craft projects," says Rene Nielsen, Oroville ADP Instructor, "Last month we made chocolate kiss roses for Valentine's Day and sold quite a few in the Oroville ARC Store."
For March's St Patrick's Day the crafty clients and instructors have made adorable Clover Pots with flower ink pens included. "We'll use the funds raised for a field trip this spring," says Nielsen.
The Clover Pots are only $2.50 each and for sell at the Oroville ARC Store at 2745 Oro Dam Blvd. They also made Clover Lapel Pins ($1) and girls headbands ($1).
