ADP Client Close Up ~ Roman
Roman Aguirre joined the Arc Adult Day Program in January, 2007. "Prior to joining us, he was not doing much of anything except sitting around the house watching TV, playing computer games and being bored." said Ray Fennell, Arc Thrift Store Supervisor, "In the past he was employed doing lawn maintenance, but he never liked it."
Rayna Vicuna, his FNRC Coordinator, encouraged him to try the Arc Adult Day Program. Since he has been at Arc he has really grown. Now he goes out on the Arc Thrift Store truck to pick-up donations, and he greets and deals with people daily accepting donations at the store. He also cleans and tests electronic items we receive. He works hard and has become a valuable member of our team.
"I like the challenge of loading a truck or moving large items correctly." says Roman, "I live with my disabled father and the extra money I earn working at the Arc Thrift Store helps out at home." He and his family are very proud of his accomplishments. He has learned to embrace the responsibility of work and the opportunity to make new friends.
"We are all proud to have Roman as a member of our Arc family." shares Fennell.

The Arc Bowling Club is a very well received activity in the Recreational Therapy and Socialization programs, entertaining around 30 consumers per week.
"Consumers and Instructors alike enjoy challenging themselves each week to increase their bowling score and improve their form." says Hollie Ingle, SocRec Coordinator, "For a mere $7 our clients receive two games of bowling, pop corn or hot dog and a soda."
We want to thank "Tyme to Bowl" at the Gold Country Casino, "Orchard Lanes" in Chico and "Tall Pines" in Paradise for the great deals the give us every week.
Please, see the calendar below for the March Bowling Club outings. Please, contact Hollie Ingle for more info

The Arc Emporium Now Open in Oroville!
We are excited to announce the opening of a new satellite office in Oroville, "The Arc Emporium".
Located at 2745 Oro Dam Blvd, the 10,000 sq. ft. site houses Arc Programs for local developmentally disabled clients, a large thrift/antique store and the new "ARCoffee Connection" cafe.
"There is a great need in the Oroville area for our services." explains Michael McGinnis, Arc Executive Director, "The new satellite office will offer a wide variety of services just as we have had in Chico for over 50 years. We are pleased that the new facility is finally a reality."
The Emporium is full of gently used furniture, collectibles, musical instruments, books, clothes and a whole lot more. "The community has been very supportive. We've had some really unique items donated already," boasts Brenda Easter, store manager.
"ARCoffee Connection is making some of the best coffee in Oroville," shares Patti Thomas, Arc Associate Director. "I am sure it will soon be the most popular café in town."
Proceeds from these retail endeavors stay local and help fund the Arc Programs.
