Additional Information White Water Gallery Founded in 1977, the White Water Gallery was created to facilitate artists that were unable to find venues for their exhibitions. Many of these artists feel they started their art careers through the White Water Gallery. Over the years the vision statement of this Artist-Run Centre has changed to satisfy the needs of North Bay's art community. In 2008 the White Water Gallery reviewed its mandate and established that it would continue to aid artists by 1) presenting art exhibitions from across Canada, and 2) educating emerging artists by having them participate in every aspect of the gallery's functions to gain an understanding of how these exhibitions are created and how they can apply this knowledge to their own exhibition proposals. CARFAC Ontario CARFAC Ontario is the association of professional visual and media artists.
Founded in 1968, CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation/le Front des artistes Canadiens) has worked for 40 years on the legal and economic issues facing visual artists. We believe that artists, like professionals in other fields, should be paid for their work and share equitably in profits from their art practice. The work of CARFAC Ontario is to develop policies, publications and services that assist artists, galleries, curators, art patrons, and other stakeholders in creating an economic climate that benefits all visual artists.
The Ontario Crafts Council (OCC) is the only arts service organization working on behalf of craftspeople in all disciplines across the province. It is a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization founded in 1976 through the merger of the Canadian Guild of Crafts (Ontario) established in 1931, and the Ontario Craft Foundation. It supports the cultural sector and crafts community through a program of events, workshops, exhibitions, publications, retail, and professional development initiatives.

23) Teaching Opportunity: St. Bonaventure College, St. John's (NL) A message from Jill Monahan - SBC Parent Auxiliary
"As part of our annual auction gala, November 5th, we are looking to incorporate an art project from each of our Kindergarten through Grade 6 classes. Each class would be tasked with a unique project in a way that allows each of the students to make a contribution to the overall end piece. In the younger grades we thought perhaps a ceramic windchime, each student handpaints a piece and all are strung to form the final windchime. Some other ideas we have are silkscreening, handpainted Christmas bulbs, mosaic pictures. In the grade 6 class we thought perhaps a landscape might be fabulous. But we are certainly very open to ideas.
We are wondering if you may have artists who may be available to come to the individual classrooms to 'get us started' and offer their guidance and expertise. We have 2 Kindergarten classes, 2 Grade 1 classes and then one class in each of Grades 2 through 6. Please advise of your interest and availability."
