NEW! For 2010. Personal Best' Summer Contest of Fun!

Be one of the First to Join a Friendly Competition for FREE!

The following is an introduction to the "summer
contest of fun" and a little bit about Team Captains Sean Bechtel and Nat Faulkner.   Please review  (YOUTUBE).

Our idea of using two of our best athletes as official captains for the summer was to make 2010 a great - fun year of introducing some transfer of skill, knowledge and passion for triathlon" said Shepley.   Already well over 100 people have registered for the TEAM BECHTEL vs TEAM FAULKNER contest.   At no cost to the participants, individuals register and are assigned to one of the International Pros.    Then 1-2 times a month, Nat or Sean send video and training tips to help better prepare you for the races that are about to occur.   Whether you are a novice or an Ironman competitor, Nat and Sean have something valuable for you to consider incorporating into your weekly training program.

If you plan on racing this season and or would like to be a part of one of these teams then please contact www.personalbest.ca

Race Morning Instructions

Registration Procedure - Watch How It's Done

Most of the nerves come out before the race has even started "what do I do? Where do I go?" are all common questions asked by our newer athletes. Here is a visual piece that we created to help you see what the registration process is all about.
VIEW RACE MORNING REGISTRATION HERE ON  YOUTUBE

If you are preparing for your first race it would really help to go back and read the information in the Beginner's Guide as well.

Plan ahead and make sure you know how to get there. If you would like personalized direction to the race site go to www.mapquest.com and type in this address.....

Creekside Church
660 Conservation Dr. Waterloo, ON N2J 3Z4.
You can manipulate these maps to suit your needs.

Come Early - We cannot express this enough.  Registration is a time consuming process and race kit pick-up closes a half hour before each event.

Race Kit Pick Up- begins at 9:15am-10:30am
Race Start - wave 1 starts at 11:00 am

Once you have parked your car you are ready to get yourself organized. Drop off your bike in the transition area (area marked off with fencing and banners) then proceed to the registration area. At the registration area you will find these steps; please follow them in order. Each step will be marked with signing.

  • ALPHABETICAL RACE NUMBER LIST: Each athlete looks up his or her race number from the alphabetical lists posted. If your name is highlighted or you are not on the list, please go directly to the "Inquiries Table".

NEW WAIVER FOR 2010!
  • WAIVER: Each athlete must read this waiver before you get to the race site. You do not need to print this one off just READ only. The first step of registration will be to sign a form stating you have read and understood the terms of the above waiver. You will add your race # and any emergency contact info and then hand in the form before the volunteer hands you your race #. For you new athletes, don't worry - it will all be easy to follow once you get to the site!

  • RACE NUMBERS: Athlete lines up at a table and tells volunteer his or her race number. The volunteer will find the number and verify that the name is correct.

  • RACE KIT PICK UP: You will receive a bag, t-shirt and sponsor gifts (selected races).

  • If at any point there is a problem, report to the "Inquiries Table". Janet will help you there.

  • BODY MARKING AND TIMING CHIPS: Once athletes complete Registration, they proceed to the Transition Area, where Body Marking takes place and you also will pick up your timing chip at the green Championchip Tent. This will be located just outside the transition area (where you set up your bike). Athletes set-up their bike and transition supplies at the bike rack for their age group.

* make sure you get your timing chip and wear it around your ankle. If you forget to do this then your race will not be timed.

Maps
There will be a copy of the Bike and Run Route posted in front of the Northwest tent. However the maps are also available to be printed from the newsletter above.

Once inside the transition area get yourself familiar with all the entrances and exits. Each are clearly marked as the Pepsi Bike Course or the Merrell Run Course and have big blue steel towers you will run under. These are your entry and exit points during the race

Relay Instructions

Every member of the relay team must go through the Registration process and have a signed waiver. Both the biker and the runner will also each receive a race number. After completing Registration, the team must report to the transition Area to be bodymarked. All exchanges take place at the team's bike rack, transferring timing chip to next athlete. Both the cyclist and the runner must wear the bib number on the front of his or her jersey. At the finish, the runner must maintain his or her position until the timing chip have been removed.

Washrooms

Now you should be ready to race but need to find a bathroom? Delays are inevitable pre-race as everyone HAS to go at the same time. Please try and plan for that.
All washrooms will be located inside the community facility.
