SATURDAY
50/50 RAFFLE IN SUPPORT OF LUNG CANCER CANADA.
A fellow triathlete Stephanie Kanitsch has organized a 50/50 raffle for Saturday to raise funds for Lung Cancer Canada. "PK's Fight Club" will be doing the triathlon in support of Stephanie's father Peter. They will have a table set up on the hill all day Saturday and the winning ticket will be announced during the SPRINT awards at the end of the day.
The focus of our charity event is to raise money for Lung Cancer Canada. Our hope is to provide funding for research dealing with an often neglected type of cancer, and to increase awareness and support for patients and families facing the disease. In 2008, an estimated 8,100 people will be diagnosed and 6,900 people die of lung cancer. Lung cancer is the MOST preventable of all cancers, yet still remains the leading cause of cancer deaths for both men and women in Ontario. In December 2006, my father Peter Kanitsch was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He continues to receive support from family, friends and organizations like Lung Cancer Canada. We would like to support a charity whose mission is great: support those affected by lung cancer through education, awareness and peer support. PK's Fight Club is running the triathlon in honour of PK and all those affected by lung cancer.
Come and show your support for a great cause.

I hope you found this newsletter informative. I know the one question you may all be wondering is what the water temperature is. The crew will be setting up on Friday in Guelph and will get an accurate reading at that time. We will then post it immediately on the home page of the www.trisportcanada.com website by Friday afternoon. Typically we find that the water is about 1-2 degrees cooler than the Muskoka water temp so plan on wearing your wetsuit if you have one. Muskoka was 69 degrees. Looking forward to an exciting weekend. We'll see you soon.

- Step 2-WAIVER: Each athlete must read and sign a waiver in order to race. The waiver is to be signed and given to the volunteer handing out race numbers. Please write your # on the waiver form before handing it in. You can download this waiver, sign it and bring it to the race to save some time.
- Step 3-RACE NUMBERS: Athlete lines up at a table and tells volunteer his or her race number. - Step 6-BODY MARKING AND TIMING CHIPS: Once athletes complete Registration, they proceed to the Transition Area, where Body Marking takes place and you also will pick up your timing chip at the green Championchip Tent. This will be located just outside the transition area (where you set up your bike). Athletes set-up their bike and transition supplies at the bike rack for their age group.
* make sure you get your timing chip and wear it around your ankle. If you forget to do this then your race will not be timed.
Athletes-Once inside the transition area get yourself familiar with all the entrances and exits. Each are clearly marked as the Pepsi Bike Course or the adidas Run Course and have big blue steel towers you will run under. These are your entry and exit points during the race.
Relay Instructions Every member of the relay team must go through the Registration process and have a signed waiver. Both the swimmer, biker and the runner will also each receive a race number. After completing Registration, the team must report to the transition Area to be bodymarked. The swimmer is the first of the team to wear the timing chip. All exchanges take place at the team's bike rack, transferring timing chip to next athlete. Both the cyclist and the runner must wear the bib number on the front of his or her jersey.
Washrooms Now you should be ready to race but need to find a bathroom? Delays are inevitable pre-race as everyone HAS to go at the same time. Please try and plan for that. There will be plenty of port-o-potties near the registration area/ transition area. There are also indoor facilities directly across from the port o potties. There will also be 2 portables at the run exit.
