We would like to wish all of our customers a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please read below for some news from Chaverware and East Rockaway.
New method for requesting support
Some of you have already experienced our new method of requesting support. Yes, it takes a little getting used to, but the vast majority of those who have used it have told us they love it!  We have been using LogMeInRescue for a year in order to connect to your computers and solve issues for you; now we are extending the use of this tool in order to maintain a queue of callers right in LogMeIn. We are even working with the LogMeIn developers to try and enhance some of their features.
 
So, what is this new method?

Rather than calling here, dialing 2 for support, and then speaking to someone who will probably just record your information, we are letting you accomplish this without picking up the telephone. There are three different ways that you can do this, as outlined below in the FAQ. This has resulted in a MUCH faster turn around of requests for support. On average, the response rate has been between 10 and 15 minutes from the time of request. Remember, that is average, so some of you might experience a 30 or 60 minute wait, but most will not.

Q. Is Chaverware cutting back on staff?
A. No. We are utilizing our staff more efficiently in order to provide better and faster support to our customers.
 
Q. Will I still be able to speak to a support person?
A. Yes, absolutely. We will first try to "chat" with you through the chatting utility involved. If you do not respond, we will call you. If you do respond, we may either solve the problem just by "chatting" or we will likely just call you as soon as we know that you are in front of your computer.
 
Q. How do I utilize this new method?
A. There are three different ways to connect.

All three methods will ask you for information about who you are and what your issue is. If you use option 1 or 2, you will not have to type most of the personal information each time.
 
There is an option to mark your issue as "Urgent". Please remember that if EVERYONE ALWAYS marks their issue as "Urgent", than no one will get the benefit of an urgent issue. Please use this option with the appropriate care, and ONLY when it is truly Urgent.
 
1) From within Chaverware, click on Help and "Request Support". (You no longer need a password for this.) REQUIRES CHAVERWARE 4.12
 
2) From you new desktop icon called "Request Chaverware Support". (Also under Start,All Programs, Chaverware 4.0) REQUIRES CHAVERWARE 4.12
3) From our website, on the bottom of the homepage is a telephone Telephone. Just click on that phone, and it will take you to a new screen in which you can fill out this information.

The latest Chaverware update, version 4.12

We are pleased to announce the release of Chaverware 4.12. This update will likely be the last update of the Chaverware 4 series.  Their are a few enhancements, such as a link for QuickBooks 2008, as well as our new support method built into the software. Please read the directions below and follow them carefully. If you need help during this update, please follow the directions below for obtaining support.

If you are running Chaverware 4.12 Build 518, you don't have to do anything now. To find out what version you are running, click on Help and About Chaverware

Installation Instructions

 

All workstations MUST have administrative rights on the workstation prior to running the update.

1.     The first user who does the download must do this while no one else is using Chaverware. You can find out who is using Chaverware by clicking on Tools and "Active Users".

2.     To download the update, go into Tools and "Check for Updates". This will check the version you are running against what is on the internet, and only download it if you are running an older version.

3.     Once the update file is downloaded, you will need to restart Chaverware. This will execute the update program on your computer.

4.     Accept the defaults in the update wizard. Once the update is finished, you can now go back into Chaverware.

5.     The first person who logs into Chaverware after the update also must do so exclusively. There will be a data version update that takes place at this point. Depending on the speed of your computer, speed of your network and amount of data that you have, this process could take from two minutes up to an hour. Be prepared for the hour version, and don't do this during a critical part of your day.

6.     Once the first person has logged into Chaverware, the rest of the staff can log in too. Each one will be prompted to run the update, and they should as above in item 3. No one will be allowed to enter Chaverware with a previous version once the update has been run on one computer

 

 

What's changed in Chaverware 4.12
 

New Features:

  • Chaver-ware now looks for a user level environment variable named CW_STATION that defines an alternate computer name. This is for users running Chaver-ware as a thin client.

  • Added support for Quick-books 2008 editions.

  • Added capability to request support directly over the internet. This is under Help and "Request support". A shortcut is also placed on the desktop.

  • Added "Full Database information on each Family/Member Option #11 w/Notes" report.

  • Added "Projected Cash by Month by Category" report.

Fixed Issues:

  • Stopped users from being able to accidentally edit deleted invoices, corrections, and adjustments.

  • Updating unprocessed credit card entries with new credit card information, now also updates the reference number of the transactions involved.

  • Fixed an error that would occur when refreshing the cash receipt entry screen for a family with no open items.

  • Deleting attendance dates now works for non US dates.

  • Deposit ticket ID drop down boxes are now sorted by deposit date, and then by deposit ticket ID.

  • Fixed error that would ask for a deposit ID, even though it was filled in, when editing unsummarized non-payment transactions.

  • Fixed problem where select all button was not visible on credit card processing screen.

  • "Seating Labels with Name, Seats order by Event" has been fixed to properly report if someone is sitting in more than one section.

  • "Donation Letter #2 Sorted by Zip Code Non-Zero Balance Only" and "Statement #2 Sorted by Zip Code Non-Zero Balance Only" reports are no longer available.

  • Export membership utility now accepts codes with leading zeros for USCJ.

  • Adding guardians to a class category that is greater than level 1 now associates the guardians with the student in the categories above it as well.

  • If you added multiple recurring payments for the same date range and the same family, then deleted one set from the middle, the automatic reference numbering would go off and would not let you enter any more for that date.

  • Invoices from restricted categories no longer show up on the recurring payments screen.

  • Fixed problem with some family primary adult fields not being updated properly when flagging the existing primary adult as deceased, or deleting them.

  • Removed requirement to have tax letter printed for U.K. installations, when deleting a family.

  • Fixed problems with U.K. postal code formatting.

  • Fixed problems with U.K. phone number formatting.

  • Fixed issue relating to exchanging primary and secondary adults in a family which used to allow you to re-assign the level 2 categories only, without the level 1.

  • Fixed problem where Credit card updates would not propagate to payments against bills from a different family member.
