BLAZING HOT UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN AT STRONGHOLD ENGINEERING
|
For many years, Stronghold Engineering Inc. and it's employees have demonstrated how a quality organization, made up of quality employees, can not only run an efficient business, but help support the needs of the citizens in the community by running a United Way Campaign filled with events and fundraisers.
With the Bar-B-Q blazing, "Team SEI" cooked delicious sausages and hamburgers to kickoff this year's campaign. This is part of the long list of special events to keep the FUN in FUNdraising, all put together by ECM Charly Rodko and her dedicated team: Kindra Alexander, Rosie Soriano, Mackie McNicholas and Heidy Whitehurst.
The 1st Annual SPAM Carving Competition was also held last month, and gave many employees a chance to show off their artistic talents using this canned meat staple many of us grew up on. Many employees participated, but only one was crowned "SPAM CHAMP" and won the prize for best carving.
Congratulations to Jose for his winning "sculpture" of hands holding the Stronghold & United Way logos, and a big THANKS to all who participated in this fun event and showed such great United Way spirit!

Agency Spotlight:
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY AND YWCA
|
|
Habitat for Humanity and YWCA in Riverside are partnering to construct a new residential treatment facility for the YWCA's unique "Born Free" program. This licensed, 24 hour residential treatment program provides food, shelter, transportation and other supportive services for chemically dependant, pregnant women as they attempt to recover from their dependency so their children may be born drug-free. *In 2006, 5,368 Riverside County babies (1 in every 9 births) were born to mothers who self-reported their use of drugs/alcohol during their pregnancy.
This new 2,500 sq.ft. facility will replace the current 1,300 sq.ft. house that has been leased by the YWCA since 1990.
Kudos to Habitat for Humanity and the YWCA for working together to LIVE UNITED!
Habitat for Humanity and YWCA are United Way Member Agencies and your contributions help support their work.

LIVE UNITED Flash Mob On Thursday, November 13th at 6:30pm in Union Station in Washington, DC, United Way of America organized the first-ever LIVE UNITED Flash Mob*. It was used as a campaign event, and was both powerful and fun at the same time. Possible uses of the flash mob are as numerous as you are creative.
