Riverside County Probation Department
Employee Campaign BBQ
By Theresa From On October 29, 2008, the Riverside County Probation Department sponsored their first countywide Employee Campaign BBQ to raise funds for the Riverside County Employee Campaign. The United Way of the Inland Valleys and the Riverside County Regional Parks Department provided support, through the donation of time and food, to make the BBQ a success.
Most notably, Emmie Hodges of the Parks Department ensured that the prestigious Carriage House was all set for the 200+ guests. The United Way volunteers: Bob Gebo, Frank Mott and Bruce Cripe; Chief Probation Officer Alan M.Crogan; Chief Deputies Craig Cass, Rick Quinata, Donna Thierbach and Sally Beavan ensured that the burgers and hot dogs were cooked to perfection for the guests who generously donated over $640.00 for the cause.
Food and prizes, for the donation drawings, were graciously donated by: Applebee's, Gram's BBQ, Mi Tortilla, Juan Pollo, The Old Spaghetti Factory, CPPCA, BioKorium Day Spa & Salon, The Marriott, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, The Upper Crust Sandwich Shoppe, The Tamale Factory, Pacific Stiks, and Don Carlos Hair Design. Great Job to everyone who participated in making the BBQ a great success!

2008 Riverside County Employee Campaign
The results of the District's participation in the 2008 Riverside County Employee Campaign is once again a great example of the altruistic nature of this organization's employees. Year after year we have managed, regardless of good or bad economic times, to meet or exceed prior year contributions to support the needs of others within our communities, and this year is no exception.
As of October 31, 2008 we have managed to raise a total of $46,655.00, an 6.5% increase over last year's contributions and an 8.5% increase over our original goal of $43,000.00, not including the two fundraisers left for November (a 50/50 drawing and the Book Fair scheduled to take place Wednesday, November 12, 2008).
One of the greatest rewards of working on the Employee Campaign is being able to witness the generosity of so many individuals. Thank you for that humbling experience and thank you to all the participants who made this year's campaign a great success.

Vie "LIVES UNITED"
Vie Raskosky, 83 years old, has volunteered for the Family Service Association's senior program at the Kay Ceniceros Senior Center in Menifee since it opened in 1990, "because of the people," she says. Her dedication to the community goes above and beyond the call of duty: whether it's serving on the Center's Advisory Council, helping with the exercise class and the senior nutrition program, or assisting with card games, Vie is always there to lend a hand.
Supervisor Jeff Stone recently recognized Vie as the Volunteer of the Year for 2007-2008. A plaque will be also be displayed at the Center in her honor.
