James I. Nelson, MBCP Discipline Chair: Business Continuity Management
President of Business Continuity Services, Inc. (BCS), a consulting firm specializing in Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Disaster Recovery planning, headquartered outside of Chicago, IL.
He is a frequent speaker, writer, instructor and practicing professional both domestically and internationally.
Jim holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration, has earned the MBCP certification from DRI International in 1998 and served as DRI's Lead Instructor from 2002-2006.
He is chairman of the board for ICOR, is a board member for the Northern Illinois Chapter of ACP, and is a member of IAEM. Jim also serves as the Business and Relationship Management Consultant to International Association Management, Inc.

Gerald Lewis Ph.D, Discipline Chair: Crisis Management & Communication
Dr. Lewis, an international consultant, has worked with government agencies, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and private businesses on a wide range of work, behavioral health and organizational issues. His focus is facilitating organizational recovery and resiliency with the emphasis on "people-recovery."
He has authored numerous articles and three books: Critical Incident Stress and Trauma in the Workplace (1994) and Workplace Hostility: Myth & Reality (co-author, 1998), Organizational Crisis Management: The Human Factor (2006).
An Adjunct Assistant Professor, he has served as the Faculty Coordinator of the graduate (on line) program Emergency Management & Organizational Continuity Program at Boston University. |

Michael J. Fagel, Ph.D., CEM, Discipline Chair: Emergency Management
Michael Fagel, Ph.D., CEM, has had a remarkable career in emergency management-a career that has spanned more than 32 years and has taken him from serving as a volunteer with the Aurora Illinois Civil Defense Agency during the Cold War to ground zero following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Between then and now, Dr. Fagel has served in various capacities within the American Red Cross, the Aurora Emergency Management Agency, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA),various federal agencies and with Department of Defense contractors. He also has more than 25 years experience as an instructor at numerous colleges and universities.
He has also authored and co-authored more than 200 articles covering all aspects of emergency management, health and safety, critical incident stress management, and fire safety law. |

Donald Byrne, CDCP, Discipline Chair: Legal Compliance & Audit A successful entrepreneur, former venture capitalist and investment banker, Don Byrne has been the CEO of several high technology and financial service companies. He is the founder and Managing Director of the consulting firm - North River Solutions, Inc. His industry experience includes financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation/shipping, engineering/software development, and wholesale distributors. His current area of interest is the interplay between regulatory compliance and business continuity planning. |
Guy Sapirstein, Ph.D, Discipline Chair: Social Resilience 
Dr. Sapirstein is a psychologist, consultant, and facilitator and researcher who has specialized in the field of psychological stress and trauma for the past 15 years. A senior partner of ORI Consulting, Dr. Sapirstein has consulted to companies and organizations on coping with crisis, trauma, and change. In addition to routine consultations to organizations of all sizes, Dr. Sapirstein has been involved helping victim cope following some of the major disasters in recent years including the September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and in Pakistan, following the October 8th, 2005 earthquake. | |
