Boost Curb Appeal ...just in time for your Spring listing!
Anyone that has bought, sold, or even just looked at a house can tell you that first impressions matter. A house can be full of luxury improvements, but if it lacks curb appeal, few potential buyers will ever step inside to give the house a chance. Curb appeal is more important ever. Why? Just drive through any local neighborhood and check out how many yard signs you see. Quite a few, huh? Did you notice which ones stood out the most? I'll bet it was either the ones with great curb appeal or those that severly lacked curb appeal. You definitely don't your listing to be the latter. Fortunately, curb appeal enhancing projects do not have to cost a lot. This is a misconception among sellers and even Realtors alike. If you're looking for low-cost, high-impact ways to create or simply improve curb appeal, consider giving some of the following a try: - Light it up! Light is perhaps one of the most powerful accents, both inside and outside. Make sure all light bulbs are in working order, light fixtures are in good shape and replace if necessary. Solar sidewalk lights are now very easy and relatively inexpensive to purchase and install yourself. This can create a nicely lit path to the front door for those early evening viewings.
- Small Improvement with BIG Impact. A freshly painted front door (color appropriate of course!) and shutters can be one of the biggest and most cost effective ways to change an entire exterior impression. Plant simple flowers where you want the eye to be drawn. Swap out rusting or worn door knobs/handles/house numbers with new for a fresh, well maintained appearance. Repair areas that are of first impression first and continue with repairs later only in necessary.
- Inside Out. Set up exterior furniture sooner rather than later. Show buyers that your outside spaces or just as fabulous as your inside spaces. Add outside pillows with color and flowers when weather permits. Hint: pansies add lots of great bright color and can stand chilly nights.
