Should You Use Digital Home Staging?
On a recent online forum, realtors and home stagers discussed digital home staging. Many different views were presented (and debated). A realtor posted this message which summed up all points very nicely:

"Digital home staging is not necessarily a replacement for traditional staging. Its simply an alternative product/service that can be used to enhance images of an empty home. In fact, it's a good alternative in today's distressed economy.

Some have been mentioning that buyers may be disappointed when they arrive at an empty home after looking at staged photos. There have been plenty of cases where I take photos of a home while it is still occupied and then the family moves out. There is no difference between those photos and a [digitally] staged one. I think some of us are missing the point that a [digitally] staged photo is just to show the possibilities of a room and to help define the space that is being shown."

Traditional home staging and digital home staging are two distinct services that work towards the same goals but are certainly different in nature. With each having its pros and cons, the right service should be chosen to correctly accommodate the situation at hand.

A little information about the digital staging process...
Digital furnishings aren't just dropped into an image to create a digitally staged photo. Many different aspects go into consideration. We first place carefully-selected furnishings into a photo. The size and angles of the furnishings need to be adjusted in relation to the room. To create the seamless look, lighting is usually modified and/or may be added. Slight graphic modifications are then made to finalize the photo.
