- Strategize! Before you begin making the changes to increase the value of your home design a strategic plan. Weigh out the costs for your projects by room size, updates needed and expense of updates, timeframe, what you can do yourself vs. hiring a professional and if you will get the return needed.
- Slow to Go. Start slowly by WRITING DOWN the specific changes to be made, your hopes and dreams for the space and what you envision upon completion. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but don't worry about organization...just get your thoughts down on paper.
- Break it Down. No, I don't mean on the dance floor. I want you to break your list down by time vs. money.
- Just Ask. Ask a Realtor or Home Stager what changes would be most beneficial to the resale value of the home. You know they want you to list as high as possible! ;)
- Meet Mr. Inspector Not-So-Scary! Yes, the thought of hiring a home inspector can be scary. But, by addressing the issues he/she brings to your attention will be that much less you have to haggle over later.
