Come October, we turn our thoughts to holiday fun and winter vacations. France is home to the highest Alpine peaks, some of the best skiing in Europe, fabulous Alsatian Christmas markets and spectacular food, wine and shopping. Alpine Adventures
The French Alps offer the broadest range of skiing opportunities
anywhere in Europe. In fact, Europe's greatest peak lies in the eternal
snows at the summit of Mont Blanc, 4,810 m (15,781 ft) above sea level.
EuroPanache has contracted with 4 and 5-star luxury chalets and lodges in a number of France's top ski resorts, including:
- Megève -
the haunt of old money and movie-stars, very pretty and good skiing;
- Chamonix - known for late-season glacier and off-piste skiing (Vallée Blanche);
- Courchevel - for those who like to be with stars and the ultra-chic;
- Tignes/Val d'Isère - which offers some of the most challenging skiing in Europe for accomplished experts.
Let
us help you arrange exclusive private plane or helicopter access, a
car/driver from the nearest TGV station or airport (including Geneva),
lift passes, ski/snowboard lessons, accommodations and touring.
Alsatian Christmas Markets Farther North from the Alpine area, Strasbourg has been holding its famous Christmas market around its impressive cathedral since 1570! The market will operate this year between 27 November and 31 December.
Alsatian Christmas markets offer visitors a touch of adventure and plenty of fine flavors! The hundreds of talented craftsmen who sell their wares on the market provide a chance to discover some enchanting festive products, including "Bredle", the delicious little cake traditionally prepared during the advent period.
EuroPanache has contracted rates with several great hotels in Strasbourg and offers escorted wine and nature tours throughout the region. Basque to Basics
Click here for a wonderful writeup of our Basque Country programs in the October/November 2010 Virtuoso Insights Food & Wine Issue.
The Basque country offers some of the best cooking and wines in Europe. A greater concentration per capita of Michelin-star restaurants lies in this region than even Paris or London.
The seven provinces of Basque country straddle the French-Spanish border. The back country is fabulous. Admire quaint villages in the hills, Belle Epoque
masterpieces along the coast and ultra modern "starchitect" edifices in Bilbao and the Rioja. Discover where chocolate first
came to Europe, where Coco Chanel opened her first boutique, and where the locals spend more than double of their pocketbook spend on food than in America!
