Wilshire Grand Hotel, Los Angeles- On April 18, KCCD held its black-tie awards gala and dinner celebrating ten years of its past work and successes, and also provided an opportunity to lift up great models of leadership in community service especially within the Korean/Asian American faith-community domestically and internationally. KCCD would like to thank and congratulate the honorees for the evening, including James Ryu- Founder and President of KoreAm, Freddie Mac, Mark Ridley-Thomas - L.A. County Supervisor, 2nd District, Pastor Michael Lee- Senior Pastor, Young Nak Celebration Church, Dr. David Ryuman - CEO, Vermont Dental Group and Implant Center, Rev. Sang E. Chun - President & CEO, Tennessee Korean American Social Service Center, Rev. Young Ik Byun - Pastor, West Bethel Presbyterian Church, and Dr. Byung Yul Yoon - Founder/President, Korean Needy Children Supporter's Association of Southern California, for their inspirational leadership and contributions to the community.
The event was emceed by NBC news correspondent Jinah Kim- Co-owner and Executive Producer, WorldWise Productions, and featured notable speakers including John Chiang- California State Controller, and Christine Lagdameo- Deputy Director, White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, with special greetings from Congresswoman Judy Chu- (D-CA) District 32. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Christine Allen- Worship Director, Evergreen Baptist Church, JuLen An, and the Pastor and Elder Couples Praise Choir.
